And, in both instances, it's counterproductive. I don't like Obama, and I didn't like Bush. But, criticizing the President over such petty things is not beneficial to anyone.

Obama skips SXSW festival to visit funeral traditionally visited by only the first lady - doesn't attend his duty to the arts and modern music. Small children cry at festival, more at 10.

I think that would be a wonderfull blog. One that bashes Obama for the option he didn't take, just to show the absurdity of the conservatives hate frothing. Too bad no one seems to have gotten the idea, and now it's too late.

We should talk about presidential protocol here and add the facts.

But I know the facts may irritate some conservatives who only live to bash President Obama, no matter what he does.

President Ronald Reagan did not attend the funeral of former First Lady, Bess Truman.

President George W. Bush did not attend the funeral of former First Lady, Lady Bird Johnson.

President Bill Clinton did not attend the funeral of former First Lady, Patricia Nixon.

And former President Jimmy Carter did not attend the funeral of former First Lady, Mamie Eisenhower.

Personally, I was happy to criticise (not "bash") Bush when he did things that were deserving of criticism (like, y'know, taking the USA into an illegal and unnecessary war...). I'm not sure that Obama not attending a funeral when there's no protocol or tradition suggesting he should do so, really counts as something deserving of criticism, though...
