  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

One of the biggest reasons we have pollution is because of religion. Engineering may have created a machine to be built to do some kind of work, but the person paying for it is the one who didn't care about the pollution it created.

Now you could argue this is a product of capitalism or corporatism, but much like climate change, pollution, a mountain of plastic in the oceans, it takes a mentality of ignoring reality on Earth. When you have a religious doctrine that nothing in the material world matters, and only the supernatural, jeebus jeebus jeebus, heaven and hell, and nothing on Earth really matters, why would you care how much about how much you destroy?

Mix the Christian mindset and the industrial age and you created an entire mentality of other people don't matter, exploit everyone and anything you want, because all that matters is the after life. Sure, get on your knees now and pray, give some money to the church to buy your way in, but nothing here matters so destroy all you want. Climate change? I'll be in heaven by then. Workers dying on toxic waste? They'll go to heaven. Water supply being poisoned? Who cares.
Ya.

You can always tell a born again highway patrolman from one who isn't.

Just throw a couple of bags of McDonald's trash out the window as you pass one and see if he chases you.

You can certainly tell the one who wants to meet ticket quotas and increase law enforcement revenues.

Well there's nothing like an atheist highway patrolman chasing a Christian, who threw two bags of McDonald's trash out the window in front of him, down the highway so he can get his quota of tickets in, is there?

We're so persecuted!

Big deal.

So does the Pope.
Good point. There is no conflict between the theory of evolution and Christianity. The Catholics have learned from their mistakes, it is rather amazing that the fundamentalists in the U.S. are unable to do so.

Actually I was not meaning it was a christian or atheist thing, I was meaning it was a cop thing. 'Twas a bon mot.

That having been said, this doesn't argue against the socio-political situation that exists because of Abrahamic religion's eye on heavenly rewards, allowing a who-cares-it'll-work-itself-out-just-dump-it-in-the-river mentality that allows for the destruction of the environment.

dad, work on your logic skills. Babies are what human organism are called after birth. It is illegal go kill babies. There are several terms that you can use before birth but "babies" is not one of them. By doing to you are using a loaded term and that is not very honest. A Christian should strive to be unquestionable in ones honesty (something that most atheists learned long ago when they debate, that is why Christians often end up looking so bad when they debate with them, honesty is a policy that will help you debate).

No problem. As soon as you acknowledge your error.
Abortion is diobolical murder. I do not care what you think.

You cut and pasted a list of scientists who lived before Darwin's discovery. Since Young Earth creationism was invented in the early 1900s, none of those scientists would qualitify. And Mendel and Pasteur accepted evolution.

Maybe you shouldn't blindly cut and past from dishonest websites.
They belived in spirits and creation. They count.

And yet it was okay under certain conditions in the Old Testament. And no, it is not murder. You can't even support that with the Bible. Again, the best that you will be able to do is to quote the Bible out of context.

Nope, creationism is a denial of science. It could not even exist until after the theory of evolution came around. You might as well say that Newton was a denier of quantum dynamics and relativity too. Once again dad, you need to work on your logic skills.
