  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Does Science Agree With the Bible?

The Bible wasn't written by either historians or philosophers, it was written by holy men, some more holy than others. True religion and true science should have no lasting quarrel.
What if the writers of the Bible were holy, and the writers of the science books, for example, [King] James McGraw of McGraw-Hill were not?

Do you rate them on a scale of 1 to 10?
True religion and true science should have no lasting quarrel.
And you, of course, have the 'true religion'. Can you convince dad of the errors of his ways?
People of science can be true believers, just not believers in the inerrancy of the Bible books.
Because of the errors?

We can dispute facts or theories when appropriate despite the faith or lack thereof of the scientist. But when someone proposes that God created the earth to look old, putting a bunch of fake fossils and fake physics in place, then we have gone off the reservation in support of the speculation of holy men.

So they aborted babies how?
Wrong dad, it is impossible to abort a baby. Didn't you ever take that sex ed class?

But since you will probably never get it they performed by making them drink "bitter water", so it sounds like a chemical abortion. I thought you knew your Bible.

We are talking about the natural world.
No, we're not. You are, but I am not. And why you keep expecting to get physical evidence about something that is not physical and why you keep mixing the two up, only proves what your problem is.

Who proposes that?

Science just helps to debunk the superstitious element of religious claims. Religion is supposed to grow in understanding like science does but unfortunately religion petrifies into dogma and doctrine. Religion hides it's talents under a rock and waits for the return of the master when it will say "here is the Bible, we added nothing to it".

I see. So the 42 million aborted every year are really not aborted. You are clever.

Chapter and verse?

dad, work on your logic skills. Babies are what human organism are called after birth. It is illegal go kill babies. There are several terms that you can use before birth but "babies" is not one of them. By doing to you are using a loaded term and that is not very honest. A Christian should strive to be unquestionable in ones honesty (something that most atheists learned long ago when they debate, that is why Christians often end up looking so bad when they debate with them, honesty is a policy that will help you debate).

Chapter and verse?

No problem. As soon as you acknowledge your error.

SCIENTIFIC DISCIPLINES ESTABLISHED
BY CREATIONIST SCIENTISTS

You cut and pasted a list of scientists who lived before Darwin's discovery. Since Young Earth creationism was invented in the early 1900s, none of those scientists would qualitify. And Mendel and Pasteur accepted evolution.

Maybe you shouldn't blindly cut and past from dishonest websites.

Right so you cannot deny it. Ha ha. Many of the real great men of science were believers.
Sure, but they did well is spite of that. Their various religions may have been less important to their work than that they wore pants.

Science delivers lying fables and doubts about creation, as well as nukes and pollution, and various other dangers to life on earth.

One of the biggest reasons we have pollution is because of religion. Engineering may have created a machine to be built to do some kind of work, but the person paying for it is the one who didn't care about the pollution it created.

Now you could argue this is a product of capitalism or corporatism, but much like climate change, pollution, a mountain of plastic in the oceans, it takes a mentality of ignoring reality on Earth. When you have a religious doctrine that nothing in the material world matters, and only the supernatural, jeebus jeebus jeebus, heaven and hell, and nothing on Earth really matters, why would you care how much about how much you destroy?

Mix the Christian mindset and the industrial age and you created an entire mentality of other people don't matter, exploit everyone and anything you want, because all that matters is the after life. Sure, get on your knees now and pray, give some money to the church to buy your way in, but nothing here matters so destroy all you want. Climate change? I'll be in heaven by then. Workers dying on toxic waste? They'll go to heaven. Water supply being poisoned? Who cares.
