  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Does Science Agree With the Bible?

Let me get this straight....you think that God setting a trap for evil...makes God evil?
The world and life in it, is a sequential path, to some a blessing, and to some a curse...on which God is light unto their path for some, and a snare to others, even a rock of stumbling.

So trying to understand the world around you makes you evil?
I never said that. Why do you turn everything around...first on God, thinking He was evil, and now on me, as if I called you evil?

There is nothing wrong or evil about trying to understand the world around us.

What is wrong, is the great length that some have gone to, making themselves out to be all-knowing, when they have merely made and occupation out of studying what they do not fully understand.

That works both ways from my perspective, particularly with folks that try to get every bit of their understanding of reality from a few paragraphs from the book of Genesis.

It's one thing to appreciate the Bible, but it's another thing entirely to elevate one's own personal "interpretation" of that book to the level of "infallibility" and refuse to consider other information from the world around us.

The problem with YEC is that it requires one to assume they have "infallibly" interpreted a few paragraphs from a single book, and ignore the wealth of information that we do have and that we do understand about the world around us.

I'll be the first to admit that I don't buy every so called "scientific" idea hook line and sinker, but if I do have a complaint about an idea, I can explain that complaint, and clearly articulate that complaint from the perspective of science.

From my perspective, that "all knowing" ego thing cuts both directions, particularly with respect to YEC.

If you have God, then why do you get so many things about reality so wrong?

If you have "science", why is your universe composed of 95 percent placeholder terms for what amounts to pure human ignorance?

You are hung up on "interpretation" again. Many do not interpret, but "know" the Truth.
