I'd just like you to try to understand how odd it is to accuse science of being dishonest or wrong.I know it by its fruit. Or would you rather I quote Websters?
We all do the same thing every day. I get that. But that doesn't mean we are correct, it means we assume we are correct, not based on all there is to know, but based on all we know regardless. It's nothing to be proud of. And if we contradict someone more in the know than we, we should be asking questions, not boasting superior knowledge and calling the other guy a liar. Like I said.I'd just like you to try to understand how odd it is to accuse science of being dishonest or wrong.
Science is, simply put, the most effective means of examining the world that we have. We make observations and we attempt to build models based on those observations. If science says that God is a liar, than this is nothing more or less than our observations of the world around us telling us that God is a liar.
Right, but this essentially tells us what we can and do currently know. We have no better way of knowing. And if science tells us that what is stated in the bible is wrong, then we should think long and hard about that. If science calls god a liar, then it means he lied to us. He either lied to us by giving us false information in the bible, or he lied to us by forming the earth in such a way that it was guaranteed to fool us. RickG's signature has an excellent quote describing exactly this phenomenon. Neither option paints a good picture of a benevolent deity who wants us to know him.We all do the same thing every day. Liar?Which is real, the Creator, or those things created that are passing away?
Nonetheless, science tells you God is a liar. Believe what you will.
You assume that science tells you the truth and never consider that you are believing a lie or that you are being led down a path which you are determined to walk. God has placed before all people a path of life and path of death, and you have chosen death, and will receive it.Right, but this essentially tells us what we can and do currently know. And to liar, you add insult.Liar?
Thats a little strong.
More like: science tells us aspects of the Bible are mythological or poetic.
You assume that science tells you the truth and never consider that you are believing a lie or that you are being led down a path which you are determined to walk.

As for us who trust in God in spite of what we see in the world, He has given us life, and for seeing more in Him than in the world, He has shown us all the more. But we give Him the glory, for even the smallest glimpse, it is He who reveals it.
It stands on the shifting sands it calls its own reality, not even knowing where it came from. It is not I who have not offered, it is they who have not heard. If you are going to accuse scientists of publishing false data, then at least have the backbone to show that it is false data. Until then, the data stands.

If one only has the words, then they must "interpret." But if one has God, they need not "interpret."IMO that's a bit of a cop-out. It's one thing to "trust God". It's quite another thing entirely to trust in your own "infallible" ability to "interpret" the Bible correctly.
Science is simply the study of God's creation IMO. The only thing it tells us is *how* God works/creates. It doesn't pose any actual threat to "God", even if it does pose a threat to a literal interpretation of Genesis.
Do you really think that fixing points of reference and making claims of would-be facts in an ever-changing unknown, while whirling through space and time...has any more going for it, than a bug on a leaf in at tornado? [Rhetorical]. . . said no scientist ever.
Do you really think that stuff you make up has any bearing on reality?

Whats wrong with poetry and myth? And to liar, you add insult.
I know you might think this was a response to my statement, but it really isn't. If the evidence we've found by examining the world around us points unequivocally to an earth that is at least 4 billion years old, then one of three things must necessarily have happened:
1. God lied in the bible
2. You are interpreting the bible incorrectly
3. God created the world intentionally to fool us
So which is it?
Number three is almost right. Except the "fooling" has a purpose, and it rains down equally upon good and bad alike.I know you might think this was a response to my statement, but it really isn't. Here lies the body of durangodawood, whose life was a poetic myth. What's wrong with that? [Rhetorical]Whats wrong with poetry and myth?
Even many Christians think portions of the Bible should be viewed that way.
