King Abdullah is what I would call a secular Muslim. His heritage is as a Muslim and his country is Muslim, but his life choices seem to be secular. He spent his high school and college years in the US. He is very much a secularist who values pluralism. I am sure that more devout sects within Islam would consider King Abdullah to be a MINO (Muslim In Name Only). King Abdullah is fighting for his throne and trying to be a voice of reason. I respect that. I also would not be surprised to one day see him seek asylum in the west or be assassinated. That would be a sad day for Jordan and the Middle East. Here's what Jordan's King Abdullah II (a Muslim) said about the problem of Islamic terrorism:
Jordan's king: Fight on ISIS "a third world war"
"This is a Muslim problem. We need to take ownership of this. We need to stand up and say what is right and what is wrong...This is a war inside of Islam. So we have to own up to it. We have to take the lead. And we have to start fighting back. And all of us have to make that decision and stand up to the plate and take our responsibilities." - King Abdullah II
I don't know, but it was obvious to everyone else (at least to conservatives) that it was a jihad attack. Was that recorded before or after the intelligence about her deleted facebook posts was available?
It was obvious to conservatives because the attackers were brown! To the rest of us, it really wasn't. Initially, there were no reports of attackers shouting 'this is for Syria' etc, no premade videos released where the attackers outlined their motives, no claim of responsibility by IS or anyone else. Until her Facebook posts camed to light, there was no evidence that this was Islamist terror.I don't know, but it was obvious to everyone else (at least to conservatives) that it was a jihad attack.
Actually, it's because they were acting like jihadists. Most brown Americans don't act like that. And conservatives know that Islam isn't a race. We know that Muslims come in all races, including white. It was obvious to conservatives because the attackers were brown!
How so? They weren't shouting about Syria, as other Islamist attackers seem to have been doing recently. They hadn't released any videos.Actually, it's because they were acting like jihadists.
No it was not.I don't know, but it was obvious to everyone else (at least to conservatives) that it was a jihad attack.
The conservatives recognized it for the jihad that it was while the liberals were following Obama's lead by suggesting that it was "work place violence." We all saw it happen right here in these forums. No it was not.
When you have mass shootings that aren't terrorism related on an almost monthly basis, it seemed much more likely at the time that it was just another crazy American with a gun shooting up his office. A mentally unstable person who managed to get a gun somehow. You know... that problem we refuse to address in this country? Couple that with the fact that it was an unconventional target for Islamic terrorism and I would say people were justified in their initial assumptions.
Is that what this is about? Scoring points for the team? How disgusting. The conservatives recognized it for the jihad that it was while the liberals were following Obama's lead by suggesting that it was "work place violence." We all saw it happen right here in these forums.
Why not give credit where it's due and just say that the conservatives were right?
Point of order, please specify neocons and/or theocons. I assure you that palaeocons find their schadenfreude as disgusting as you do.Is that what this is about? Scoring points for the team? How disgusting.
Conservatives didn't recognize squat. They were hoping it would be a Muslim so they can fire up the war machine. Lord knows we wouldn't do anything about it had the shooter been white like the guy that was at Planned Parenthood just a week prior.
It's easy. Assume every terrorist attack is a Muslim extremist, and when it turns out one was, claim "I told you so!" as loudly as possible. Disregard all the ones that turn out not to be, obviously. Why won't you tell us how conservatives recognised it as such?
