Wow we can pray but not sure about the giving part. Trust the Lord to provide as He will.
Also, I suppose you could put the request on crowdfund sites if theres a specific amount you need.

I dont have an expensive perfume I could sell, but maybe that expensive perfume would rather be used to anoint someone in Uganda than to be sold for money like Mary did for Jesus.

the problem with sites like that is they take a percentage of what you earn.

Oh. i didnt know. Well just a suggestion.
Apparently mission agencies also take a cut, if you are told to raise money by them before you go anywhere, all that money goes to them first which they manage for you, a lot of it goes into admin costs of running the mission agency.

I didnt know this before I started to find out about missions, I did a perpective course. I always thought that we trust the Lord to provide and not have to ask others like George Muller did.

1. Not everyone uses Missions agencies
2. Sometimes it's tradition to give a mission board a cut of money because they help you with processing transferring money internationally.
3. Nowhere in the scripture does it say that we cannot ask the brethren for money for the sake of spreading the Gospel.
It is very clear that it is God's will for his people to be giving, you see multiple times in the scriptures different churches sending money to others for a specific need. God's people don't give if thy don't know there is a need.
If you can show me a verse that says we shouldn't ask others to support the work of Lord I would be willing to read it.

“Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven. “Thus, when you give to the needy, sound no trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. “And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. ...

Even in your own scripture verse you quoted

To what purpose is this waste? For this ointment might have been sold for much, and given to the poor.

Clearly Jesus didn't need the money, or ask Mary to sell her ointment so he could give that money to the poor. Mary anointed Jesus.
I understand giving anointing oil but I don't understand giving money. Money is pretty much useless for the Kingdom of God.

I speak for many christians when they feel they are being targeted just for their wallets and not their love and prayer support. Many christians do not have much money to give. We can all give a little, but not all as we need to pay our bills too.

Woah woah woah.

The bible says how shall they go except the be sent.

The Ministry requires money, plain and simple.
God wants us to be a giving people, I compare to the ointment because most of the world would says spending money to send people to preach the gospel is a waste..but it will reap eternal rewards and Jesus will always remember the financial sacrifices we make for him upon earth.

I am not asking for people to give me all their money, but if God lays it on someone's heart then praise the Lord.

Btw you reference to Matthew 6, has very little do with what we are talking about.
It simply is teaching that we should not do things to be seen of men, but to please and honor God.

And I don't know why you mentioned the verse about the love of money.
this is not an issue of loving money, I am not trying to raise money so that I can drive a fancy car or own a big house, it's to raise money so that the lost people of Uganda do not have to die and go to hell for eternity. It has nothing to do with covetousness!

We could take that verse and flip it back on a lot of Christians, there are lot of Christians who spend money on cable television who will not sacrifice it to give money to support missions. I'm sure there are Christians out there and don't give because they don't want to sacrifice some comfort.

The bible says to lay up for yourselves treasure in heaven, not on earth where moths and rust corrupts.
Giving money to support God's work is laying up treasure in heaven.

Philippians 4:14-19 Notwithstanding ye have well done, that ye did communicate with my affliction.
Now ye Philippians know also, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but ye only. For even in Thessalonica ye sent once and again unto my necessity. Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account. But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, wellpleasing to God. But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

2 Cor 8:1-4
Moreover, brethren, we do you to wit of the grace of God bestowed on the churches of Macedonia;
How that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality.
For to their power, I bear record, yea, and beyond their power they were willing of themselves;
Praying us with much intreaty that we would receive the gift, and take upon us the fellowship of the ministering to the saints.
