Is it wrong to borrow a book, CD or anything else that someone has purchased if they offer it to you? How is that any different than file sharing?

How about when you would record TV shows on a DVR? Is that wrong?File sharing is making a copy, lending a book is not.
My thought is it is no different than me recording a TV show on a DVR. I am not depriving anyone of their property because someone did purchase it and they are sharing it. How about (this dates me) when you use to record music off the radio on a cassette tape. Was that wrong? Just trying to get different input but of course I will be in prayer about it. Thanks for your answer.I think people who produce media make more than they should really be entitled to, and complaining about 'digital theft' is just greed masquerading as victimization.
But that's just me![]()
Only if you skip the commercials, if the networks could have their way.How about when you would record TV shows on a DVR? Is that wrong?
Your generalization about people who "produce media" is ridiculous.I think people who produce media make more than they should really be entitled to, and complaining about 'digital theft' is just greed masquerading as victimization.

That is a weird one. What does commercials have to do with copy write?Only if you skip the commercials, if the networks could have their way.

I still don't have my answer. What is consider pirating? If I purchased the movie on VHS and had no way of putting in on computer format but yet someone to that had purchased it had it and said I could borrow it is that considered steeling. I have not deprived anyone of property or money. (made a profit) I consider pirating people that go into movies theaters and film the movie and than tried to sell it.Pirating a movie is stealing in the same way that duplicating a car could be construed of as stealing.

Its everyone from starving artist to media mogul.
Not according to the supreme courtHow about when you would record TV shows on a DVR? Is that wrong?
I dont have a console.Moguls are the one's who complain. 'Starving artists' do not often get pirated and even still to a far lesser degree.
The way I see it, moguls are robbing other people sitting on that kind of profit. It's like when Microsoft thought about making video games in which were digitally signed to your console so you couldn't even give it to someone else. 60 billion dollars just isn't enough.
But have fun with your paycheck to paycheck![]()
There is a precedent for that. There was a company back in the 90s that took Hollywood hit movies with bad language or brief scenes of sex/nudity that was not important to the story line and edited them out. They were marketed to Christians who did not want that content playing in their homes. They were shut down for copyright violations - not distributing the WHOLE film.Only if you skip the commercials, if the networks could have their way.

Yes that is the big key For Profit. Just thinking the other day I would hope missionary would be able to hand out things about Jesus to other countries. I wonder if someone file sharing a copy (of a movie you purchased) of about Jesus might be the only way someone could hear about him in countries where Bibles are outlawed.Pirating is defined as distributing someone else's work for profit without permission (such as bootlegging).
Sorry but I really don't care what the Supreme Court says. You see how well they go off of the Bible. Not according to the supreme court
I dont have a console.
I get paid to make much more art for others than I could ever buy.
And I'm terribly sorry to hear about how you were forced to play MS games.
