Hmm... Holland, Michigan is about 100 miles from Chicago across the lake. So 20 times 8" would be 160 inches or about 13 feet. I'm pretty sure that there are several buildings in Chicago higher that.

It's about 23 miles. So anything higher than 3 feet would be visible from there.

Actually, it's only at the equator, that it's that fast. Gets slower as you go north. That's why they launch satellites as close to the equator as they can get. If you launch them eastward, they gain the kinetic energy from the Earth's rotation, and you can put larger payloads into orbit.

Unless u can verify n then do u have all the variables, so info can change at anytime.... No one is infallible n for the most part all are just reverse engineering a design not something out of nothing randomness.... We rationalize n the best logical conclusion wins until time n info prove that info wrong

Yes I like to know why ppl act, say n do.... Yes I am a ppl watcher lol n,u!?
To be honest I see all of u in a good way n I say that bc u can not know my heart n most interject their own character or inclinations onto others....

(Barbarian observes that even with allhart's numbers, one should be able to see Chicago from across the lake (assuming adequate clarity)

(Allhart shows a video)

Did you even read what it said on the site? Do that, and you'll see why it works like that.

I'm no physicist, but it seem likely that the earth would be turning faster as it reaches the North pole.

Couldn't be. Remember, it's a solid body, rotating a specific number of revolutions per day (actually, one RPD). So at the equator, all 25,000 miles rotate once in 24 hours.
Let's say ten feet from the north pole, that point travels um... about 63 feet in 24 hours. Which is faster?

Like a record spinning. The middle of the record, which is smaller in diameter, would spin faster than the larger outside diameter.

No. Have you never, as a child, played on a playground merry-go-round? At the center, very little speed. At the edge, going really fast.

The North pole would be the smaller inside part of the record which is closest to the axis, and the equator would be the rim of the record.

Yep. But you have it backwards.

Do the math. You said the curvature is 8 inches per five miles. What's the drop in 100 miles? As I said, Chicago surely has buildings over 13 feet high.

As I stated already, just tell me you don't want to answer the question and I will stop asking it.

If I admitted that I am fallible would that make you, or evolution, any less fallible? I don't see the relevance in your question. If I agreed with your beliefs, it would mean that I must deny my creator because you are an atheist, and also believe in a lie that the human race evolved from apes because you're an evolutionist. The simple truth is that you will not acknowledge God no matter what I say, and even if I have concrete proof that ToE speculation about mans origin was false, you still wouldn't believe it. TO you I am a fool no matter what I say or admit, because you think the cross is foolishness. For me though, the cross is all that is left after my life has been through the crucible. For me Christ is the only reason I keep going, and without him I would most likely be drowning my pain and hopelessness in drug addiction, as I did before. The Lord gives me strength and direction, without him I have nothing but regret.TO you, I am a fool no matter what I say, and the only thing that would bring your praise is if i were to deny God, and to also believe that we evolved from apes. So what's the point?

It's more than 8" I misspoke n it's the square root of one mile

I doubt your sincerity. IM sorry I said anything. I'm a bit dyslexic at times. I even spell things backwards. Its a result of many years of depression I think. My mind isn't what it once was.

MY sincerity is doubted? Yet, YOU are the one making claims about "wisdom" and "foolishness", but cannot give even one example to support your claim.

MY sincerity?

The scripture I referred to actually describes the foolishness of mans self righteousness. It teaches us not to glorify men, but to glorify only God alone. Its no shame to be fallible, and the mistake is in being self righteous.

Yet you were using that scripture to specifically criticise scientific knowledge, to whit, evolutionary biology. Are you now saying that you twisted that scripture to suit your purposes here?

Tell me again about sincerity.

1. The theory does NOT state that we evolved from apes.

2. Being a Christian and accepting evolutionary theory are NOT mutually exclusive conditions.
