  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

In other news, Twin Peaks is pretty good so far. The main character looks like a young Jeremy Brett's Sherlock Holmes, and has similar eccentricities; this is a very good thing. It also has the atmosphere of The X-Files with American small-town charm, and mercilessly mocks soap operas.

As far as objectionable content, given it is rated TV-MA, it contains some profanity, but not much considering it was from 1990. There are numerous affairs, love triangles (and just about every other geometric shape). There is no onscreen sex, though a scene is often initiated with some heavy kissing before it fades. One of the major plot arcs is human trafficking, so there is that element. All told-- thus far-- it's surprisingly clean, and would be comparable to a milder PG-13 film of today.

The Truffle Shuffle would totally be my go to dance, if it were not likely I'd be arrested for indecent exposure.

You know why so many people have no idea about The Goonies? Because they've never lived. You should go forth and educate them! They'll thank you for it.

Nah, cops don't ticket ladys with their shirts up. Just look at rock concerts.:p

Yes, I do educate them when I come across them, but I are only one bull. :(

I haven't seen anyone reference Jeremy Brett's Sherlock Holmes in a long time. I loved that series. As good as Benedict Cumberbatch is, I don't think anyone tops Brett as Sherlock. I loved the violin music to the theme as well. I think I need to check out Twin Peaks, now, haha.

I actually enjoy the smell of Old Spice. I guess it's because that's what my grandpa has always used so it reminds me of him :D

Sentiment makes everything better... even Old Spice apparently!

At least you have something to remember him by like that :)

Yes! Jeremy Brett is the standard by which portrayals of Sherlock Holmes should be measured. :asd: I've actually got a book of Holmes stories with a preface by Brett. :D

And have you seen the promo shots for the new Sherlock? They're suspiciously Jeremy Brett-esque. I'm also pleased that Cumberbatch has the highest regard for Brett's Holmes, and have always thought his character would be Brett's portrayal had a younger Brett been cast in Sherlock.
