  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hyper grace and the great lie

It does seem that universal salvation (the unrepentant murder goes to heaven too) has taken root in many circles today. I heard it mentioned in church just this last Sunday.
Where will the hyper end?

I doubt that anyone or most people that have a biblically based faith would buy Universalism. The bible speaks against it every other verse.

Some however probably do believe it.

How do you feel that your church was talking about Universalism? Were they speaking that it was true? Or discussing it as a false doctrine? Just curious.

Scriptural refutation of "eternal Security"

1. Fall from grace - Gal. 5:1-4,13

2. Be led away with error - 2 Pet. 3:17

3. Err from the truth - James 5:19-20

4. Weak brother may perish - 1 Cor. 8:11

5. Fall into condemnation - James 5:12

6. Be moved away from the hope - Col. 1:21-23

7. Deny the Lord who bought them - 2 Pet. 2:1

8. Depart from the living God - Heb. 3:12

9. Can be a castaway - 1 Cor. 9:27

10. Can become accursed children - 2 Pet. 2:14

It's most likely more prudent to search Scripture , it's to easy to find on the WWW !

2 Peter 2 The Scriptures (ISR 1998)

1But there also came to be false prophetsa among the people, as also among you there shall be false teachers, who shall secretly bring in destructive heresies, and deny the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction on themselves.

2And many shall follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of,

3and in greed, with fabricated words, they shall use you for gain. From of old their judgment does not linger, and their destruction does not slumber.

21For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn from the set-apart command delivered unto them.

( Anti-Messiah or anti-Christ )

Scripture , it's also easy to find if one looks for , their obligation of obedience to our Masters commands .

Romans 5 1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: 2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; 4 And patience, experience; and experience, hope: 5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. 6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. 8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

I believe that you are of the opinion that GRACE + WORKS = SALVATION. Now that is THE BIG LIE which Satan wants people to believe.
You can't get saved by works. We're saved only by grace through faith. But faith without works is dead.

2 Peter 1
But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, 6 to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, 7 to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. 8 For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins.

10 Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble; 11 for so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Hyper grace or false grace is no grace at all. His grace leads to repentance. False grace is just what Paul warns for: turning His grace into lewdness.

Our unity in Christ is a mystery to us many times. How we struggle with this, when there is no need.
What we do to show off Christ to this world is our book of acts!
Let us rejoyce in every day we are given to do so.
Fighting among ourselves is just flesh fighting against spirit.
Our acts, (work) is not the problem. Satan hates our acts(works).
They do not deter from the power of the Lord Jesus, they show it out!
Praise His Name forevermore! He is alive and coming soon!
Rejoyce church!

When we do things through faith, we are motivated by our love of the Lord. That is part of our sanctification by the Holy Spirit.

We bear fruit. The fruit of the spirit which is often in the form of our actions which many confuse with works.

The only one I've found is the one in romans 3-5

Faith / believing -righteousness /turning from sins -grace/ favor in Gods eyes -works / circumcised
This was the use of the words that Paul used but for this situation.
Now they are used differently in. Other letters .
In this letter it seems
Paul explains something to the Jews comparing about the Greeks not doing works so who knows I'm still looking for more to truly weigh it out biblically
I love that faith is believing in God and Jesus speaks of Faith a lot so it is opening up another meaning besides have faith you become righteous??

Note:
any one reading this I'm biblically challenged and Im
relearning the Word with out assumption of what I've been taught!
It's my personal search for truth any one misinterpreting anything I say
I'm truly sorry
God bless
May you all stay in Gods favor

If you study the New Testament carefully, here is what you will find.

1. Before the time of Moses people couldn't be saved by keeping the law because the Law wasn't yet given. Abraham (who lived hundreds of years before Moses) was justified by faith and not by lawkeeping.

2. Moses came and gave the Nation of Israel the law. That law was for national blessing and personal physical blessing but no one could gain eternal life by it. That law was to be kept so that the nation of Israel would be blessed by God and so that the individual Jews would have a long and prosperous life. For instance, if they honored their father and mother their days would be long upon the earth. etc. etc. If Israel broke the laws of Moses God would judge the land and send foreign armies against them and would kill those Jews who were greatly sinning. To keep the law was to obtain life (physical life) to break the law was to receive death (pre-mature physical death) Paul says that eternal life and justification could not be obtained by the law. In Romans 4 Paul says that King David was justified by faith and not by the law. (Just as Abraham was)

3. The law of Moses gave a sacrificial system in which Priests would kill animals so that God would not bring judgements on the nation and people for sin. However, the writer of Hebrews tells us that the blood of bulls and goats could not ever really bring remission of sins. When the Jews in the Old Testament sinned, God would bring judgements upon them as individuals and as a nation... However if turned from their disobedience and if they brought animal sacrifices God would forgive them so that they wouldn't receive physical judgements on the nation or as individuals. However, they still were unsaved spiritually unless they trusted in the coming Messiah to forgive their sins. Physical salvation was by keeping the law. Spiritual salvation was only by trusting the coming Messiah for eternal life.

3. When Jesus came, the Pharisees had completely misunderstood the law of Moses. They didn't understand that it was for the blessing of the nation of Israel. They thought it was for the obtaining of eternal life. They also thought that they were able to keep the law perfectly and earn salvation by it. Jesus began teaching them that the law was so strict that no one can obtain salvation by it. In the sermon on the mount, Jesus went over the laws and showed them that the laws are far-reaching and require complete moral perfection.

4. Often in Matthew, Mark and Luke, When lawyers and pharisees ask what actions they can perform or what they can DO to obtain eternal life... Jesus just tells them that if they can keep the law perfectly they can have eternal life. He did that to cause them to despair of salvation by works so that they would be prepared to quit trusting in the law of Moses for salvation and turn to Him for mercy and look to His sacrifice to cover their sins and save them after He died on the cross.

5. Throughout the book of John Jesus teaches over and over and over that eternal live is a gift that is given freely to those who believe in Jesus. To believe in Jesus means to trust Him to give you eternal life rather than trying to earn it by personal efforts and works and lawkeeping.

6. The Apostle Paul taught in the book of Romans that eternal life could in theory be obtained by keeping the law if anyone could keep it perfectly. However He says that everyone is a sinner and so no one can be saved by the law. Instead, Jesus came and died on the cross to pay for our disobedience to the law. He died to pay for our sins. Therefore, He offers salvation as a free gift by faith in Christ. To have faith in Christ means to quit trusting in our attempts to keep the law for salvation and instead to trust and believe that the blood of Jesus covers our sins and saves us from the wrath of God and guarantees our eternal life and a home in heaven.

7. Paul plainly teaches salvation not by works but by faith. In Ephesians 2:8-9 Paul says "for it is by Grace that you have been saved through faith and not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works lest anyone should boast." Salvation is not by doing any works whatsoever. It is a gift. It isn't earned or deserved. It is a gift which is freely given to those who trust Christ to save them and do not depend on themselves or their works.

Paul said "Therefore we conclude, that a man is justified by faith, APART FROM the deeds of the law."

And he also said... " but to him who does not work, but believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted as righteousness"

That means People who realize that they cannot keep the law well enough to be saved and so they quit trying to do anything to save themselves.... and instead just believe and trust that Jesus will save them because He died for them ....those people are considered to be righteous in God's eyes because their sins are covered by the sacrifice and blood of Jesus.

8. Last point. When you get saved (justified) the Holy Spirit enters you and leads you to live a godly life. When you sin you will be chastened and disciplined but you will not lose your salvation.
