  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Cannabis is not a sin?

ViaCrusis I must say your first post on here about cannabis was beautifully written. Your last post about dungeons and drags and beer is so true. If you look hard enough you can find the evil in everything. Instead of looking for evil we should be looking for the good in everything. We must remember God protects us from evil. Evil can do us no harm. We choose to be affected by evil or not. Stevie wonder says it best in his song "superstition"

"When you believe in things that you don't understand, Then you suffer, Superstition ain't the way"

Yes indeed should we ban dopamine and sartonin. The reason why I was sort of sad, why I was really affected by these mormans attacking me is I feel like I have failed to change them. I have failed to make them see what is in front of them. No matter what I tell them they just keep repeating the same thing, it's a sin. Instead of judging themselves, they judge others. I should give up on them but I just can't. I will try my whole life in spreading god's message. That we shouldn't judge and hate others. That everyone has their flaws. That we are all sinners that should accept one another. Knowing that God gave us this life to use. I don't care about heaven at this time in my life. I know God put me on earth for a reason and planet earth is my focus right now.

I totally agree you can abuse anything in life from cannabis to sugar. It's all about how you use it but to each his own. Everyone has a right to their own problems and I don't judge. I try to spread the love and help others overcome their problems. My opinion is instead of praying behind closed doors we should be doing in the streets. As Billy Graham said although he might of not meant it in the way I'm implying towards cannabis

"it's time for gods people to come out of the closets, out of the churches, and change America!"

Here's another great quote from the bible:

Psalm 104:14 "He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man: that he may bring forth food out of the earth;"

God bless everyone on this forum, thank you for showing your support!

Welcome to the forums!

I think all mind altering drugs should be legal, and available to people of all ages (parents should supervise the dosage for small children). I used to sneak cigarettes and beer before I was of legal age and I could never see the sense to it.

I do have question. If you don't believe the words of Christ or his disciples how can you say that you are a Christian?

I do believe in the words of Christ and God. I do not view the bible as 100% fact though. I believe it is a great book with great stories and lessons. There's no telling how much it has changed over the years though. 1000's of years and translations. I talk to God every day and I can feel his love beside me. I consider myself a Christian but do not believe in organized religion. I still will read the bible and I agree with a lot of the things written in it. The biggest thing by far and what I feel to be the most important for myself that I follow in The Bible is "Love thy neighbor". I do that every day.

I think people are turned off by Christianity a lot because they feel it is a hate religion. I don't blame them because they are brought to their church as a child, told that they are horrible sinners. I believe organized religion is damaging to Christianity's core values. When you really look at Christianity's true message it's all about love. I believe we are not perfect, that we sin. That God is the only perfect thing. We are not to feel bad on earth though for our sins. We should not view ourselves as horrible people. We were born this way. God would not want us to hate ourselves. I believe God would want us to embrace our lives to it's fullest potential. For we live this life to learn suffering. What doesn't kill is makes us stronger. God gives us sin not to self hate but to learn from our mistakes. I view our lives as a journey of ups and downs, spins. When we finally reach our destination, we will know peace.

Some are horrible sinners. It's the truth that upsets people.

In my opinon we are all sinners no better or worse. Do not judge anyone but yourself I say. Not judging you either though, just my opinon.

When I was younger I was a horrible sinner. Only later in life was I able to admit it to myself.

you feel like crap if you go without it (the trap and illusion of drugs)
I hesitate to use this line of reasoning as a rule of thumb for
what is or isn't good for a person. For example, I would
also feel like crap—and worse—if I stopped eating food.
Or drinking water. Or breathing... You get the idea. :)

If you cant obey they laws of men who you see, what hope have you got of obeying God? Is God insufficient?

So if he lives in a part of the world where it is legal, he's cool?

Lol..

I'll admit it. I use cannabis and I'm proud of it. I've only ever had positive experiences with cannabis and I'm sick of the morman's telling me I'm a bad person because.
I grew up Mormon, they don't believe in smoking, drinking caffeine, alcohol or any drugs, unless prescribed by the doctors. I'm sure some week Mormons might do the caffeine or smoking part behind closed doors. Also I remember them saying if you have bad habits or do bad thing, when you die and go to their heaven. The lowest heaven for the week or worst. You will want to do theses things and not be able to get them or do them. Nothing you tell them will change their mind.

Here's an example, as a child I was routinely told about the dangers of things such as Dungeons & Dragons, of certain fantasy television shows (the two big ones I wasn't allowed to watch was He-Man and the Smurfs), and likewise I grew up in an environment that taught that all alcohol consumption was sinful (because Jesus drank grape juice) and likewise there could be little more dangerous than marijuana.

I'm glad that you found your way to a form of orthodox Christianity. I grew up Baptist, and my parents never went full moralistic on me, thankfully. But reading what other Baptists/evangelicals posted on this site lead me to moralism. One wacky 'rule' I had for myself was to not wear cologne in order to prevent people lusting over me. I wear deodorant, but I'd happily wear cologne if I could be bothered spending the extra money.

My parents went full moralistic on me.

It got so bad at times, that even certain pizza brands like Papa Murphy's was banned because the pizzas were too large, and my father thought it was celebrating gluttony.

Now I am a hyper sex positive godless heathen liberal. Doesn't look like my parents succeeded with me, lol.

Funnily enough, I used to watch the Simpsons with my father. He had a soft spot for comedy. Pokemon was banned, but watching Homer Simpsons go to hell was a-ok. Those Treehouse of Horror episodes used to scare me quite a bit.

And to give them credit, I was allowed a TV in my room, and internet access was fine too. For some reason he relied on the honor system a little too much, lol.

I used CBD, which is extracted from hemp, for depression, anxiety, and fibromyalgia. I also buy industrial hemp from Eastern Europe and brew it as tea. It has no real side effects compared to medications I have tried in the past.

I tried marijuana once and it made my anxiety worse. If it were legal, though, it would probably be possible to get medicinal strains that would be easier use.

I don't think the responsible use of cannabis is sinful.

God gives us All His plants for food.

This means ingesting in its unadulterated form is okay by God, and given to us as a gift. We should not only 'be allowed' to use it, we should enjoy it!

I think of poppy tea for anxiety; coca leaves for stimulation; cannabis foods or tea for sedation, seizures, and nausea; mushrooms for hallucinogens to have out of body experiences.

It is man that ruins these natural substances and makes them unhealthy and a sin by making them unnaturally strong and delivering in ways unauthorized by God, like smoking. Heroine and cocaine are bad for you, but their mother plants are a delight which most of us will never know because man

takes God's gifts and makes them illegal, while altering them for use which then becomes a sin.

^ There is no reason you should take any man-made drugs.

Other then controlling blood pressure or cholesterol, fighting infection, controlling pain, immunizing against diseases, etc

God gives us everything we need here on earth already.

Did you think that pharmaceuticals were created from extra terrestrial matter?

Or do you lack faith in Him?

Please note the clearly printed word atheist to the left.

I believe God gives us everything we need. I believe His will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Those are not just pretty words I quote everyday for fun. ;)

There is one law for the chosen ones as well as the sojourner. Atheist means nothing except you are lost.
