• CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

That direct contradiction of scripture is the entire point of the discussion.

God said
"11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it."

Gen 2
3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

Ex 20:11 and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it."

11and rested on the seventh day; therefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day and made it holy. (NASB)

Gen 2:3 Clark's Commentary
Because that in it he had rested - שבת shabath, he rested; hence Sabbath, the name of the seventh day, signifying a day of rest

Ex 20:11 Young's Literal Translation
and resteth in the seventh day; therefore hath Jehovah blessed the Sabbath-day, and doth sanctify it.

Gen 2

So sorry. Moses doesn't call the 7th day of creation week the Sabbath.

Quote and cite your source that says wherefore means is.

Paul no where says the covenant made with Israel at Sinai is written on the heart of anyone. Paul says we are delivered from the law in Romans 7:6

6 But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.

So your quoting and meaning of 3:31 fails to establish Christians are obligated to the law.

What you're really saying is those (Christians) who don't keep the 7th day Sabbath or your amended 7th day sabbath are willfully sinning and have no salvation.

In 1 Cor 9 I stated that Paul quotes Moses - and holds Moses' writings up as authoritative and as scripture for NT saints. Irrefutable from the verses of 1Cor 9 referenced in my post.

8 I am not speaking these things according to human judgment, am I? Or does not the Law also say these things?
9 For it is written in the Law of Moses, "" YOU SHALL NOT MUZZLE THE OX WHILE HE IS THRESHING.'' God is not concerned about oxen, is He?
10 Or is He speaking altogether for our sake? Yes, for our sake it was written, because the plowman ought to plow in hope, and the thresher to thresh in hope of sharing the crops.
11 If we sowed spiritual things in you, is it too much if we reap material things from you?

Paul clearly appeals BEYOND his own authority to Moses and the law. This is the exact opposite of what those would wish who are at war with the Ten Commandments.

EXACTLY!

Therefore : "Do we then make void the Law of God by our faith? God forbid! In fact we establish the Law of God" Rom 3:31.

Paul says "the Law-of-GOD" <<is written on the heart of...>> ONLY those who BELIEVE. Only through FAITH is the Law written in the heart of ONLY BELIEVERS and those believers ONLY are the Israel of God. So God gives his Law to ONLY the FAITHFUL ISRAEL of God.

"In times PAST God through the PROPHETS spake to ONLY those who heard his VOICE in their own "TODAY" in which THEY, heard.
"In THESE LAST DAYS, God speaks by the SON" in our own "TODAY" in which WE, hear His VOICE, Jesus Christ, speak!
And "God shall not again speak of (or in) another day of salvation" because there WON'T BE another ever again!

Faith establishes Jesus Christ our Law the Law-of-God.

Why do we try to keep the Sabbath?

Because the Law of the Fourth Commandment threatens with death if we don't?

Why do we BELIEVE the Sabbath?

Because we believe in GOD'S VOICE WHO SAYS TODAY,
"If JESUS gave them Rest, there for the People of God remains [the grace that they might] have Sabbaths'-Feast-of-JESUS" ---"OF CHRIST THE ESSENCE" of our FAITH which we received by and through the GRACE OF GOD.

Sorry. You take it that anytime the 7th day is mentioned it is also only the Sabbath. That simply isn't true. If that were true God didn't give the Sabbath to Israel because IYO God gave it to the whole world.

If Israel is not part of the World, not in the World, not part of mankind -- then it makes sense to say that God gave something to Israel and by definition that means the world is excluded.

But Israel is part of the world, is part of mankind 'The Sabbath was MADE for mankind" Mark 2:27 "from Sabbath to Sabbath shall ALL MANKIND come before Me to worship" Is 66:23

The Ten Commandments:
Exodus 20:2-17
.
The Fourth Commandment

Remember the Sabbath Day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: for in six days the LORD made heaven and Earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath Day, and hallowed it.

THERE HAS BEEN an awful letting-down in this country regarding the Sabbath during the last twenty-five years, and many a man has been shorn of spiritual power, like Samson, because he is not straight on this question. Can you say that you observe the Sabbath properly? You may be a professed Christian: are you obeying this commandment? Or do you neglect the house of God on the Sabbath day, and spend your time drinking and carousing in places of vice and crime, showing contempt for God and His law? Are you ready to step into the scales? Where were you last Sabbath? How did you spend it?

I honestly believe that this commandment is just as binding today as it ever was. I have talked with men who have said that it has been abrogated, but they have never been able to point to any place in the Bible where God repealed it. When Christ was on earth, He did nothing to set it aside; He freed it from the traces under which the scribes and Pharisees had put it, and gave it its true place.
"The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath." (Mark 2:27)
It is just as practicable and as necessary for men today as it ever was- in fact, more than ever, because we live in such an intense age.

The Sabbath was binding in Eden, and it has been in force ever since. The fourth commandment begins with the word remember, showing that the Sabbath already existed when God wrote this law on the tables of stone at Sinai.
How can men claim that this one commandment has been done away with when they will admit that the other nine are still binding?

I believe that the Sabbath question today is a vital one for the whole country. It is the burning question of the present time. If you give up the Sabbath the church goes;

Go ahead and say God did if you like. This contradicts Moses (Ex 31:13) and the prophets (Eze 20:12).
Not true since neither of them state that no gentile is allowed to honor the Sabbath of the LORD. Neither of them call for the gentiles to be in rebellion against the "Sabbath of the LORD" that gentiles are specifically blessed for honoring in Is 56.
The Gentiles didn't regard the Sabbath when not in the company of the Jews or Israel.
Just not according to the actual Bible.

Pharaoh wasn't included in the giving of the law AKA 10 Cs as Moses said in Deut 5. There's absolutely no indication God gave the Sabbath to all mankind. Yes quote MK 2:27 if you wish.
Will do - thanks.

"The Sabbath was MADE for MANKIND - and not MANKIND MADE for the Sabbath" Mark 2:27.

Speaks of the 'making' of both.

"From SABBATH to SABBATH shall ALL MANKIND come before Me to bow down" Is 66:23

Your meaning of the passage makes Moses and the Prophets liars.
Not so since none of them say that the gentiles are required to be in rebellion against the "Sabbath of the LORD"

So who's right? Are you or are Moses and Ezekiel?
All are right - but you quote nothing from them saying that gentiles must be in rebellion against God or that gentiles are not part of mankind.

Or that Is 56 does not apply to gentiles when it says that it does.

Post proof that isn't what either of them said.

The word wherefore means because indicating a reason. Moses isn't going back and renaming the 7th day. Nor is Moses calling the 7th day of creation week the Sabbath. If he were he would have used the word Sabbath in Gen 2.

The Sabbath is a periodic item while the 7th day of creation week isn't.

It is sometimes imagined that this text can be bent to exclude gentiles from keeping the Law of God - specifically the Sabbath "made for mankind"

Ex 31

13 “Speak also to the children of Israel, saying: ‘Surely My Sabbaths you shall keep, for it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I am the Lord who sanctifies you.

There are a number of Sabbath(s) in Lev 23 -- annual Sabbath(s) that are not specifically binding on gentiles --

But the 7th day Sabbath is specifically "made FOR mankind"

Gentiles may observe the "Sabbath(s)" - and are specifically blessed for observing "THE Sabbath" because THE 7th day Sabbath was "made for mankind"

Who was it given to

From Gen 2
3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

Christ said "The Sabbath was MADE for Mankind" Mark 2:27.

He is right.

"from Sabbath to Sabbath shall ALL mankind come before Me to worship" Is 66:23.

And in Ex 20 we find that sure enough - Israel is "part of mankind".

Is 56 -
Is 56

4 For thus saith the Lord unto the eunuchs that keep my sabbaths, and choose the things that please me, and take hold of my covenant;
5 Even unto them will I give in mine house and within my walls a place and a name better than of sons and of daughters: I will give them an everlasting name, that shall not be cut off.

7 Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people.

I answered your question in my post before this one to Bob.

And elsewhere many times already.

Yes; the TC were the Law which God wrote for his People of long ago on stone tables and Moses smashed up as soon as he got down at roots-level, before there was the LAW IN PERSON OF THE LAWGIVER at roots-level. Every really Good Gift from above is from the Father directly, is it not? He said, “I GAVE you this Commandment…”

Are you perhaps trying to get me to be satisfied with tables of stone God’s gift to those poor people of slaves so long ago?
Are you trying to prevent me from receiving Jesus Christ for my Norm and Pattern --- yes, also for my admonishment and reproof? FOR THE LAW OF MY LIFE?!

Then get out of my way please; you’re obstructing the path to the Sabbaths’ Feast of Christ Home Assemblies. Thanks for stepping aside. God bless you. You may follow me; I’ll show you the way to our Church if you want.

Make you a deal -

You keep your law

and I'll keep my free gift.

PS Thanks but no thanks to your invite. I've no interest in religion. I'm most interested in God and His only begotten Son though.

Christ said "The Sabbath was MADE for Mankind" Mark 2:27.

He is right.

"from Sabbath to Sabbath shall ALL mankind come before Me to worship" Is 66:23.

And in Ex 20 we find that sure enough - Israel is "part of mankind".

In Ex 31 it is not "The JEWS Sabbath" but rather it is "MY Sabbaths" and in Ex 20 "The Sabbath of the LORD" not "The Sabbath of the JEWS".

It is a sign of "sanctification" which though some may imagine that sanctification is 'only for jews' just as they imagine the New Covenant is "only for Jews" and that "have no other gods before ME" is "just for jews" etc - we find in Ex 31 that is "MY Sabbath(s)" which refer to all of them.

But in Ex 20:8-11 it is "THE Sabbath of the LORD" -- specifically the 7th day Sabbath.

Are you trying to say Ex 31:13 doesn't speak of the 7th Sabbath? If so what excludes it?

At the time it was given and made a requirement for Israel, why wasn't made a requirement for all mankind? Why doesn't 31:13 say all men instead of you? Does the use of the word you mean all mankind in that verse? Personally I think you're using the word "you" as a code word to mean something the verse doesn't mean. Moses is command to say this to Israel, but you say Moses is disobedient and speaking to all mankind.
But the 7th day Sabbath is specifically "made FOR mankind"
Nope. Not according to Exodus or Ezekiel. Details, details remember?
In Ex 31 it is not "The JEWS Sabbath" but rather it is "MY Sabbaths" and in Ex 20 "The Sabbath of the LORD" not "The Sabbath of the JEWS".

So I guess you wish to argue that Israel didn't have a sabbath to keep. They were commanded to keep the Sabbaths belonging to someone else. OK you lose again.
