The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.
If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.
If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Interesting that because of vaccines there was no measles in the US in 2000. But because of people not taking the measles vaccine there are current 218 cases in the US and it can spread very fast.
Before the vaccine 500 people, mostly kids, died each year.
So I'm for vaccine!
You are correct. Vaccines don't cause autism. Autism is, first, hereditary (even valuable in its mild form). Typically, autism increases one's sensitivities and allergies. That is what makes us more susceptible to vaccine injuries, particularly to the modern MMR. It is that injury model that is, more and more, appearing to account for the epidemic loss of cognitive function that we wrestle with today.
Aspergers/mild autism is not a problem; it's neurodiversity. A 27yo man with a mental age of 6-10yo and a 20yo woman with a m.a. of 18 mos. IS a problem. An epidemic of such, even more so.
When many of these people are talking about an "autism epidemic," they are referring to the more severe, low-functioning autism. I am an Aspie with two such children. Aspie-level functioning would be an acceptable improvement, if brain injury is preventable.
[For those who haven't read my previous posts on this matter, I not against the vaccine method of medicine (a.k.a. anti-vax). I just believe that each vaccine (like every other form of medicine) should be judged according to its own merits.]
That is still being hammered out, but suspected cases of Aspergers are seen with regularity throughout history in famous and infamous examples. It is the formal diagnosis of anyone previously thought to be a "geek" or a "nerd."What about Asperger's? Is that hereditary, and if so to what extent?
Yes.And Kanner's Syndrome is low-functioning autism, right...?
