CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Which order? I've always been partial to the Alexian Brothers but I don't know if they were first. The Sisters of Loretto? The Benedictines? Our Lady of Perpetual Motion?

Uh, it is not exactly a singular issue, even in science those words have different meanings depending on context.

It's not just "those words". It's any word that is used to describe a process, condition, concept, action, state, function, .... anything.
I'm sorry but to me it seems like a lot of deflection, nit picking, avoidance, stalling, and just plain being difficult when statements are made where the responder needs a word defined. In any other context, conversation, dialog, the person would never question the speaker. However, here, it is a display of arrogance or condescension where these common terms have their meaning questioned.
Like I said, on an exam, in university, the student would never have the luxury of asking the definition of all the terms used in questions. They examiner would just show them the door if they are that ignorant.
