Do Not Feed The Troll.

Thank you.
I don't know. He is presenting a perfect example of someone who takes the Bible as truly inerrant as opposed to kinda sorta inerrant.

Whether it is high level satire or sincere, he is presenting a good example what someone who believes the Bible to be true in ever word and sentence might believe.

Either way, I enjoy reading him. Perhaps my tastes in this are a little odd but they are my tastes and they are what they are.

Then what does "and the evening and the morning were the first day" mean to you?
It means ammunition for argumentation.

He's probably trying to make us regret we take the Bible literally; but he's just making himself look bad in the process.

I honestly do not understand how anyone can gain a literal meaning from a text originally written in an ancient language. A lack of vocabulary necessessitated heavy use of allegory.

That's because all you want to do is argue with anyone who does.

Your attempts to show them wrong ... without really understanding what they're saying ... are only confusing you -- not them.

No, the reason is completely independent of whatever text we would be talking about. I mean that everything in ancient Hebrew would contain tons of allegory, regular speech even probably contained tons of allegory

You haven't explained ...
I can't shout to someone in a sound-proof booth.

(I can, but they won't hear me.)

((The thing is though, even someone in a sound-proof booth can read lips.))

The only way to guarantee failure is by not trying. How about just trying to explain it to me anyways?

In this case, I'd rather guarantee failure by not trying.

I'm not going to waste my time talking about the merits of the grammatical-historical method of Bible interpretation to someone who believes God is an "it" and the Bible is just another book on the shelf.

You know I call god an it because there just aren't any good singular pronouns that are gender neutral.

That's your prerogative.

As for me?

Matthew 6:9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

Unless Linnaeus has gone way off the deep end, I would say "father" speaks of the male gender.

Let's not get into the gender argument again

If big guy in sky is father, who is mother?

PsychoSarah: You are not going to trick AV1611VET into reasonable argument.

“Reason is a harlot, the greatest enemy that faith has; it never comes to the aid of spiritual things, but more frequently than not struggles against the divine Word, treating with contempt all that emanates from God.” --- Martin Luther

"Father" as in our creator. There is no mother. God is eternal.
Yup.

We are God's adopted children.

Romans 8:15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

Ephesians 1:5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
