  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Creationist author becomes atheist.

IMO, if more Christians thoroughly examined the bible and not just read it, but review the work of scholars and historians, there would be fewer Christians.
You can blame science's leading spokeswoman for that.
This was one of the main issues that led me away from Christianity, was learning specifically about the NT from an objective scholarly and historical view point.
Wouldn't it be nice then, if you could get the Bible back in school?

After all, if It produces atheists ...

Some bible moments aren't exactly PG though. I am actually shocked you never have any issues in regards to that.

A Christian to me is anyone who believes in the god mentioned in the bible and accepts Jesus Christ as their lord and savior. Last time I checked, that didn't actually require any reading
What's a saint, then?

People are free to pick up a bible on their own time, aren't they?

After all, if It produces atheists ...

It did in my case.

 not exactly an atheist concept, now is it? I'm too much of a pessimist to consider anyone a saint, although there are people that come to mind when I consider certain values or qualities.

OH no, the best evidence against evolution comes from evolutionist.

I could say the same for Christianity, in some cases. Many an antitheist is made from the behaviors of believers rather than the words of science or scripture.

I went to church ever since I can remember, and I can't remember a time when I was even a teenager that I can recall those "PG moments" -- except one.

Priests and Pastors usually don't cover the whole bible in their services.

It's true a lot of the OT isn't covered much but NT should be covered heavily which deals more directly to the church. That doesn't mean the OT isn't God's Word as it helps establish much of the NT.
