  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

In heaven, will we be without sexual desire...?

Sexual desire is not sex! It is an attraction to the opposite sex. I have never been to heaven so I don't know what it will be like but I don't think that God will turn us into eunuchs like you want to. You prove my point all too well on this.

We don't get married in heaven and I have never disagreed with this. If Adam and Eve had never sinned we would all be naked right now having sex out in the woods so grow up. I have met so many Christian prudes who turn sex into a sin and then they commit the worst sexual sins imaginable. Hypocrite is not a strong enough word!!!

And to think I'm the one who needs to grow up. Oh, the irony. It's too much.

We must never see our afterlife as some spiritual existence. That is a thoroughly pagan notion.

We will live here on earth as restored humanity. Eden will be resumed and exceeded. The patterns we see in Genesis 1-2 are the foundations of our existence. Our gender is an essential component of our being human. That will be there in the new creation.

Maybe you do need to grow up. The last few posts have focused on our earthly experience in case your reading comprehension is not that good. I have never said that heaven will be like what we have here on earth far from it but it will also not be the great monastery in the sky either.

Of course you can. My church celebrates marriage and babies and children. Sex is an important part of the first and the latter two are a direct result of sex.

BUT.....this thread is about sex in heaven.

I was being facetious. I am not interested in going to a Christian church where I am taught to worship Israel. Dispensationalism may be the favorite Christian idol of today but it's not mine.

Will we be offering sacrifice in a rebuilt temple in Jerusalem in this new earth? Talk about a thoroughly pagan notion.

Just where did that come from what I wrote?

I'm not sure if you are aware of this but the Christian church from it's very inception has been waging a no holds barred, unconditional war on sex. And yes, I said sex. Most wars are fought because of tyranny or for political or economic reasons but for some reason Christians just hate sex. Lets just look at the Catholic church as an example because they claim to be the original church and they illustrate my point quite well. The entire leadership of this church of over a billion people has banned sex. Every priest and nun and leader takes a vow of celibacy forever. They don't even see sex as acceptable in marriage, they just ban it outright.

Now what kind of message does this send to the irreligious and religious alike? I will tell you what message it sends and it is that sex is evil. Anyone who wants to be spiritual might as well just say goodbye to it forever. And what is the fruit of this kind of message? You see it right here on this forum with the poor souls who come on here like quivering bowls of jello because they saw some naked women on the internet. They have no outlet for their sexuality because they are constantly told that sex is evil and from the devil. Sex and sexuality are not evil, they are a normal part of life and it's high time that Christians learned that.

Are you serious? :confused::confused::confused:
We have NEVER hated sex, nor have we been obsessed with it. Our sex-crazed perverted society is obsessed with creating people as objects and not human beings.

Sex is for those united into the Holy Sacrament of Matrimony only. In that sacrament sex produces children, which makes that person become more like God.

They take celibacy because they must remain faithful to their spiritual children...I won't go into the teachings of the RCC in detail because that would be extremely inappropriate

EDIT: St. Paul said it's better for some to be single...it also goes back to the fourth century...i misread..BTW there are some Eastern-Rite Catholics priests (such as the Maronites) that are married...

not so... if you take that deeper... in our immortalized state we are completed.
wo-man was from man... marriage reunified.but when we are clothed in our celestial body that distinction will no longer exist.thus will neither marry nor be given in marriage -
whether the lord repopulates the new earth also with a new creature..i know not,he is eternally creative..
but the redeemed will be a walking living habitation of the Spirit of God He in us and us in him ..entwined in that eternal spiritual union. we wont seek to adulterate that perfection nor ever have any desire nor inclination to even imagine doing so.the union of the redeemed in relationship with the Holy Spirit is somthing angels desire to look into.. we shall always be the Bride, the beloved, the redeemed.an eternal testimony to the love, grace and mercy of God.

So if a catholic man with a family felt God's calling to go into the priesthood would he be able to? No! your leadership structure has forbidden this. Celibacy is not a choice like it was in the early church it is a requirement. Many leaders in the early church were celibate like Paul and many were not like Peter. This shows that your policy of mandatory celibacy on leadership is unbiblical.

can we quickly steer the topic away from a interdenominational doctrine debate and center on topic?

i strongly believe we wont have sexual desire in heaven based on all reason for it being removed -see post#109 &others

Why removed? That implies a prefall 'add on' to humanity. Yet the last Adam as the only perfect human had genitals (he was circumcised). That Jesus was referred to as the last Adam is indicative of the Eden design being continued. Our human sexuality as with al other aspects of our physical humanity will be transformed, but never abandoned. C S Lewis in 'The Great Divorce' gives us some glimpses into what may be in store for us when Jesus returns.

Why removed? (see the former post)c s lewis was ,himself, musing as we are.what would the purpose be?.. i'm just asking that question. we will be transformed ,celestial ..a living temple ,old done away with..married to the lamb of God ,unified in being and complete as such (no more man and from-man),entwined in eternal unity with the living word...
where is the need?where the purpose or reason...there is none.so i presently hold to the assumption there will be no desire for such fleshly temporal things. And where the biblical basis as a foundation to the assumption we would have such earthen desire?

I think we will have sexual desire in heaven but it will not be the same as what we have here on earth. Our experience in heaven will be perfect and sanctified but men will still be attracted to women and women will still be attracted to men. Whether those attractions and desires lead to sex is debatable, Jesus implies that the marriage structure will change.

It is also interesting to note that after the resurrection when Jesus had a new spiritual body that it was flesh and bone and he ate food like we do today. So those aspects of our existence wont change.

but then he puts off mortality and puts on immortality .. not flesh.
i cannot see ,really, any basis for believing that from scripture.
we wont even remember the former things..we will be redeemed purified spirits housed in new celestial eternal incorruptible bodies..the old passed away..we wont have such carnal attraction for one another..your own wife here will not be your wife there..and you wont have even an inclination to view her that way... she will be not her... but the new name given by God.

So Jesus had a desire for food after the resurrection and ate, satisfying his desire. Why won't people still have a sexual desire that will also be satisfied after our resurrection? What is so special -- some say sinful -- about sex?

But we still haven't answered the question: Will there be sexual desire in heaven, not those who are resurrected to a paradise earth in fleshly bodies, but those who become angels in heaven, do angels have sexual desires...?

We talk about a day when God will remove these desires, these temptations from us, and we say that if we are resurrected to an angelic spirit body, that God will remove these desires, but I find no Biblical reference or basis to support that conclusion...

Paul talks about angels being neither male nor female (gender neuter) but if this is so, why (shortly after the fall of Adam), do we see reference being made to angels coming down (falling) (to sexual desire, i suppose) and having sex with women and having offspring...

What made the angels who didn't fall, different from the ones that fell, or succumbed to what we would call fleshly carnal desires, were all of them tempted, but some said "no" or what?

I Cor 15 is all about the resurrection of the body, as manifested in Jesus' resurrection body where He walked, taught, ate food, fully human but aslo fully restored human. We will need areal body to live in the real, physical world that is coming.

i cannot see ,really, any basis for believing that from scripture.
we wont even remember the former things..we will be redeemed purified spirits housed in new celestial eternal incorruptible bodies.
Total paganism

We were never created as 'spirits' entombed in a body. Adam was created from earth's dust indicative of our 'belonging' here as an intrinsic part of creation, an earthling through and through.
