• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Nope, you are loaded with superstitious beliefs.

Don't worry, your grandkids' grandkids should be free of them.
At least I don't have a picture of Adolf Hitler on my wall.

Sorry AV, dealing with pleadings of insanity does involve due process and following the legal requirements.

As a clarification, a person can be psychologically unstable, have a form of mental illness and not meet the legal requirements of insanity, which is a higher threshold then plain old psychological issues.
What happened to "crazy" in this conversation, anyway?

You guys are backpedaling so fast, I can't catch up.

Says the guy who believes a 5.57byo planet has only existed for 6ky, a Hebrew creation myth involved English speaking characters, and Noah lived in NJ.
Well, maybe a Jack Kevorkian of the Cockoo's Nest will ease you guys social dilemma one of these days, eh?

"Crazy" is a slang term. It is not a legal term. A person may be both legally sane, i.e. knowing the difference between right and wrong, and still be crazy. No back pedaling necessary.

And once again typical creationist hypocrisy shines through. You are enjoying the benefits of civilized society while deriding some of the costs of it.

Yes, even though you may not like it due process is sometimes a necessary "evil" (and it really is not evil, it only delays justice in some cases).
Did the Auca Indians put your "crazy martyrs" through due process?

Right. Because it's perfectly reasonable to invade someone's home and impose your way of life and beliefs on others ... so long as it's in Jebus' name?

I never came even close to saying it was.

Nice attempt at a strawman argument.
So I take it, if Salman Rushdie dies of old age, he's okay.

But if Ayatollah's bountry hunters catch up to him, then he will be made "crazy" ... right?

It's always interesting how those who use the Bible in the same sentence as "men" almost always feel the need to add the qualifier "fallible."
Hmmm... I haven't noticed it being popular to do so.. I think of myself as a "trend-setter" in this regard. LOL. The reason I like to add the adjective "fallible" is because creationists normally present the bible as infallible divine revelation. If it has been touched by man, it is most certainly not infallible. That is my point.

Is there a subset of mankind, known as "infallible men"?
No there is not, buddy.... and that is precisely my point. The writing, translation and interpretation of scripture is no more infallible than the scientific process is. This is why I take assertions of infallible divine revelation with a "grain of salt," as you like to say.

The Bible has hundreds of errors in it, what have you been smoking?

Obviously not enough. Your theology has errors not the bible. First example of that is the fact you think I can tell you anything to make you a believer; yet at the same time you believe your disbelief is due to your wisdom.

1 Corinthians 1:27 (KJV) But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;

Natural? Planets with life on them are made everyday? That's your idea of natural.
