Well... many transgender people found support in Albany NY where a (very) long running support group began in the mid 50's.. ending in the early 80's when the primary founder was turning 70. The group reformed and continued until about 8 years ago, I'm not sure if the members became part of the Pride Center or continue in a less official capacity independently. (The Pride Center itself has been in continuous existence since 1970)

If over 40% of gender non conforming people reported at least one attempted suicide in 2011 (study of 6400 people) One could reasonably wonder how many people succeeded in their attempts, and how many of those transgender persons who died had the fact that they were transgender hidden by family member after their deaths.

People didn't just suddenly decide 10 years ago that being transgender was "a thing". The people on this board who are transgender don't sound like they suddenly got an earful of some liberal/progressive agenda and decide they didn't like the gender reported on their birth certificate. So where were they all a couple decades ago? Those who are more than a couple decades old ere probably struggling with the body in the mirror that didn't match the one in their head.. and looking for support that wasn't always there.

Personally I don't think one has to "promote", understand or even support the idea of being transgender to step back and allow people to work with their medical providers to determine the treatment they need to be healthy.

I have also seen suggestions by those in the psychological fields that a fair portion of suicide victims who left no evidence of WHY they killed themselves may have, in fact, been transgender and never told anyone and just couldn't live with it any longer.

The stats you post agree with all the other estimates I've seen. All of us in trans circles either deal with suicidal thoughts, or have a close friend who does on a daily basis. I had gotten so accustomed to thinking about suicide that it became normal. And that was for several decades! I sought help when they started to become a source of happiness. I no longer have them.

What you are doing is intentionally hurtful and cruel and it disregards Christianity's self proclaimed greatest commandment: To love God, and then to love your neighbor as you love yourself. What you are doing now isn't loving in any sense of the word. What you are doing is hateful.

Can't even take accountability for that, like they're not here to tempt the spirits. Like they think most Christians accept them as okay and will deal with them telling lies about God' natural order.

I can see what you are saying. However, I will come to Sky's defense with this one fact. He really does believe what he is saying. He honestly thinks what he is saying is Scriptural and Godly. I cannot denounce his intent. I only disagree with his message. And I will attack that message at every turn. But, not him.

While he is convinced that I am deluded about my gender, I am equally certain of his misunderstanding. I'm not comfortable denouncing him. I'll just bounce off his remarks and say truth.

Medical Societies do not agree with my feelings as they have given up in trying.
Do not presume I know nothing about the subject.
I have my own experiences of gender change temptations. It is possible to change and accept who God made us. But it is equally hard to do and one does experience a whole range of bad symptoms. I do believe it is fashionable to go with non-acceptance. This was largely unheard of in decades gone, but now it is commonplace and considered a valid state to be in. Many people here attack rather than discuss.

Mortal sin? Are you Roman Catholic? Your understand of how salvation works is definitely not Protestant- we can't lose our salvation through sinning (since each of us sins daily), only through faithlessness. If somebody is trying to be faithful to God, yet nonetheless feels they must transition their gender... who are you to judge? It's this whole addicted-to-judgement attitude that Jesus condemned.
