  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What are you working on now?

Recently finished tatting 165 bookmarks for the women at church for Mother's Day. I had enough made that many were able to take their mothers/daughters/grandmothers and various other female relatives and friends a bookmark.

Now I am working on a special order of additional bookmarks as well as getting my Christmas tatting started. Snowflakes, Crosses, Angels, Stockings, Trees, and Candles for gifts, cards, and Ornaments.

Did you teach yourself to tat? I have a shuttle, etc but have heard needles are easier. Any thoughts? Tatting is so feminine and delicate, I love it.

Oh I am trying to crochet some woven squares together and it is not very attractive. I wish I could learn. I spin and am a beginning knitter and weaver. I would love to crochet granny squares or flowers. I love them!

Wow you spin? The only thing I can do is knitt a dish cloth and crotchet lol

Yea, spinning is a pure pleasure, you should try it. It is meditative, therapy for me really.
I am doing dishcloths too. If you are able, post some pics of what youve made. We have a group for crochet and knitaholics or something like that. Im going to get someone to show me how to post pics and will put some up.

I am really into doing latch hook rugs and am working on an angel fish pattern one right now.

That sounds pretty - could you post a picture? I would love to be able to do latch hook rugs - my mother and my sister did it quite a lot, but I didn't quite get the hang of it. My mother taught my grandfather and he was able to make a small mat for me. My grandmother was not in the least bit interested.

I am handspinning a wool silk blend and working on some basic knitting skills. Its been awhile. The internet is such a help with tutorials. What a blessing. Im going to try the Old Shale basic lace pattern tomorrow. Out of work right now so trying to preserve my sanity. lol

How did the spinning and the Old Shale turn out? I knit a lace Scarf in Old Shale a few years ago. I love the pattern. I did it in mohair.
