liberty? is freedom FROM the bondage of sin .
it is the freedom to love God.
'if you love me,you will keep my command"(do what i tell you to do).

No where does he tell us to love the world or the things in the world.

15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

But it is easy to get sidetacked from the fact that on this thread I am applying,so to speak,a MICROSCOPE onto A singular topic.
So it's going to magnify the little things that sneak on by us every day.

And that's the point.

In worldly songs every one is being bombarded,even in the nicey pie sounding ones.with a constant message that is diametrically opposed to the truth of the lord Jesus.

It has nothing to do with law or legalism to say ..hey folks,stop and take a proper look.

Hi,
There is some music that I care not to listen to and I don't. But when I'm at work, or in the public I don't run from secular music. I use to make a stink about to people, which obviously alienated from people. I've learned to discern good and evil. I don't have the preoccupation anymore of labeling things in categories. This is good and this is evil. IMO that's eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Which kills me.

Do you ever have an unsaved person mow your lawn, paint your house, fix you car, whereby you intermingle with unsaved people? Is your bank Christian owned? You are mingling with unsaved people!

Why did Paul say in 1 Cor 10, it is ok to go to an unsaved persons house for dinner to "mingle"?

Why were they allowed to eat in pagan temples in 1 Cor 8, that is "mingling', you are wrong in your post here, there is mingling.

Green above, you may want to understand Col 2, and how they thought matter was evil also, teachings that came from the gnostics, and what they peddled in Colossians. Paul said to the pure it is pure in Titus, and the world is ours, all things in 1 Cor 3.

NO, I think we all got your point and understand exactly what you're getting at. I wouldn't advise people to listen to secular music if it would encourage them to sin but it is a decision we all make for ourselves. I prefer Christian music and listen to 99% CCM. There is music, movies, TV and lots of stuff I avoid, like horoscopes but I don't turn it into an issue.
There are plenty of people who have to work in an environment where the owner chooses the music…. its not the problem, its the listener thats the problem.

There is music, movies, TV and lots of stuff I avoid, like horoscopes but I don't turn it into an issue.

thank you, Michael, for your Biblical stance... We need to beware what we allow into our minds (hearts).. for what we feed it, we become... The words are the most vital part... words that denigrate the teachings of the Word can corrupt the mind, like poison corrupts our body... I choose not to allow those corrupt words to flow into me...

Alot of churches sing The Rose. Pretty sure the singer that popularized The Rose, was unsaved. Time to get past all of this hyper alert fear, living in stand-by mode.

Jerome struggled with an issue, as he tried the monastary life, it did not stop lust.

I guess at a ball game, I need to tell the 1/2 time band, that their music is nor glorifying the Lord, please stop playing, it offends an sacres me.

I've been saying for a while, and I may be repeating what I've already said in this thread, that I am disappointed that there aren't more churches that I can't worship in because the music is too "hard" to my now older ears.

Thanks for saying it, Jim. I've been thinking it's just me getting grouchy and crotchety in my aging years.

I actually bring earplugs to church for the worship time because it is so unnecessarily loud. Either that or I come to church when I know worship will be just about over. Sad.

I hate it because I remember the days when worship at church was sweet and the decibel level was normal.
