  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

LOL. I don't even think you know what you're talking about.

Step back, take a deep breath and then come back and post something sensible.

Basically, if your god can exist without a creator, why couldn't anything else?

How did nothing happen to nothing which created something and then arranged itself into your God?
You want your God to exist don't you? so anything that might suggest that he doesn't is wrong, not because it's wrong but because you don't want it to be right, you don't even know what I'm talking about do you?

As stated in the bible, the God of the bible is eternal and had no beginning, was not created and was never "arranged" from anything.

It's like trying to find the starting point on a perfectly formed ring. There is none.

If something so complex as god need no origin or explanation, surely nothing else does.

Who says God needs no origin or explanation?

Its one thing to say you don't know the explanation for God, its another to say God needs no explanation.

Why can't we be allowed to not know something?

We certainly are, we don't know what happens after we die 100%. However, many people try to make god exempt from the proof they want for other things, and that isn't exactly unbiased.

How many times do I have to tell you that flatworms were not the common ancestor? Are you ignoring me deliberately?
I never asked that or claimed that. If they were in your belief system, A common ancestor then you could have come as a result of flatworm sex, no? Forget what supposedly came before that!

Disgusting.

I don't think you realize you are making an illogical statement.

It's not that God doesn't "need" one, He just doesn't have one.
To say nothing else does would be to ignore everything that has
ever been born naturally. Obviously they all had a beginning.

Yet, what if something was outside of time as we know it? Something
that is say, energy in nature or spiritual and need not have a beginning.
Or need not have come into existence the way we see life come into
existence.

If something is outside of time, it lacks movement, and place. Something outside of time can't interact.

But why? Wouldn't it be the opposite? If I were not constrained by time I could go anywhere and be anyplace at the same time.

Not quite, if you were able to control time you could do that, not if you were outside of it. The property of time is a measure of movement over distance, to be without time would be to be without change, you would be frozen completely in place, or worse, it would be essentially the same as not existing at all.

Seriously, do you even understand what you are saying? That's like asking if you can be the son of your brother. Life just doesn't work that way.

There was a common ancestor between humans and flatworms. Humans are one side of the family tree and flatworms are the other side. Flatworms never evolved into humans.

So Humans never resulted from flatworm sex.

Not quite. I am outside the USA. That doesn't mean I am capable of going to any part of the USA I want. I have to stop being outside the USA and go into the USA before I can go to any part of it.

I disagree. That may be a property of time as we know it in our spacetime, may be that, but time itself is not.

Time is such an uncertain issue I would rather we not get into this whole argument again. You know it just results in us eventually getting bored of it and going off on another topic.

Not directly, but if the worms were the distant ancestor, you resulted from flatworm sex. Otherwise they are not an ancestor! Wouldn't it be (in your godless belief system) that flatworms begat some other worms or something similar, and they begat something else...on up the imaginary line to you!?

Admit it.

Not once you get a grasp of the concept. But whatever...I just chirped in.

In any case, to suggest that time doesn't apply to god doesn't make god somehow better. Personally, I would say god controlling time would be more "plausible".

Of course God made time and set the controls for it. In earth spacetime we have a certain way time unfolds! It takes a certain time for light to move, an isotope to decay, and etc etc.

What I was pointing out was that time is not limited to spacetime that we live in and know.

You got any evidence to support this claim?

I keep asking you for evidence and you never provide any. Could it be that you don't have any evidence for it?
