I denounced...NO ONE! I question their interpretation. Plain and simple. You are taking this WAY beyond that which was intended to support your convictions.
Those early church fathers were NOT inspired apostles. If you use them as a crutch that is to YOUR detriment. Not mine.
If what they say is true, Scripturally speaking, I will stand with them.
You speak of apostacy as if it is a rule of thumb or a litmus test compared to what YOU believe.
Shall we sift the waters of the eastern orthodox for idolatry and see how much water is left?
The Scriptures that you claim that are the sole basis of your beliefs were in FACT compiled by the Eastern Orthodox church in its infancy. They may have something to tell you about how that came about and how they came to the rest of their doctrines, all of which came straight out of the mouths of the Apostles. You stick with the Bible only because
you have absolute confidence that they correctly compiled the Canon of the Bible. You might want to pay attention to some of the other things that they did at the same time, based on what the Apostles told them to do.
"Those early church fathers" did not have a Bible. But history is absolutely crystal clear that they were carrying out the oral instructions from the Apostles. Do you
REALLY believe that someone like Ignatius of Antioch, who was a disciple of both the Apostle Peter and John would have apostatized within a few years after their deaths? Do you really think somebody like that, who wrote strong letters denouncing Sabbath Keeping on his way to the Lions,
abandoned Sabbath Keeping out of cowardice or Apostasy?
Your scriptural methods have some extremely troubling outcomes: Thousands of people lost everything and many of them ended up in mental institutions based on the failed prediction of Christ's return in 1844. Yet your Prophet, in a grand face-saving gesture, announced that
INSTEAD, there was now an Investigative Judgment where Christ is judging you on your perfect Sabbath Keeping to determine your fitness for Salvation. And I would remind you, that there is an extremely disturbing history of your Church's own top theologians who have denounced that doctrine as having NO biblical support.
Your methods do not have an impressive track record.
"Idolatry" in Eastern Orthodoxy? You have of course read the spirited arguments back and forth on that before you made such a stupid and bigoted statement haven't you? And my, aren't you being critical of a church of 300 million that is 2,000 years old, that your prophet, while plagiarizing most of the Great Controversy made a calculated decision to completely avoid mentioning it. And of course you can judge Eastern Orthodoxy and the First Century Christian Martyrs from your luxurious couch. And you can fantasize about the persecution that your false prophet predicted. While you are at it, why don't criticize Eastern Orthodoxy for the way they handled THIS:
