I follow the Holy Spirits conscience not mine. following mine would only get me introuble and end up like Satan thrown out of the kingdom of God. Its not my will be done, but his will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

That's what I meant, Dieing. For a Christian, our conscience should be synonymous with God's Spirit in us. Calmez-vous.

Paul spends time discussing this. The Holy Spirit does not take possession of us as a demon would.

First there must be a renewal of the mind to conform to the mind of Christ rather than to the world. At that point, your conscience becomes a reliable indicator.

The whole, "oh no, Im worthy" and the other one saying they aren't worthy when confronted with "that ring", is nonsense.

The she elf, for example, that pictures delusions of granduer of how she will rule, and then self professes as being clean and ok, isn't of truth. That's one filthy elf.

She was facing her temptation and she triumphed over it. Not unlike the devil tempting Christ with all the kingdoms of the earth but Christ ultimately rejecting it, if you ask me.

She was easily possessed and then all of ther sudden said, "Im good".

Dirty elf. Beside all that mind conversation with frodo, weird.

Thumbs down for me. If she actually overcame, she wouldn't have went that far in the first place.

That wasn't possession, she was exhibiting her innate power inferring it would be amplified with The Ring. That's also where the telepathy comes from, Gimli referred to her as a sorceress when the fellowship was entering Lothlorian. She went to the precipice and she resisted the urge to jump.

But think what you want, I'm just telling you your analysis of the character is inaccurate.

A sorceress. Isn't that what Saul sought before his doom and forbidden by God to associate with? Witchcraft.

My "analysis" is correct, and the character is junk.

That "sorceress elf" was possessed and weird stuff happened that isn't of God.

Isleof you hit the nail on the head. Those who dabble with argue that its safe fun and cool. God says that's foolishness, lacking wisdom, not seeking his will but their own fantasies. You can lead a fool to water but you can make them want it. Jesus is the only one we should be giving all the honor glory and power to. No one or thing or fantasy. yet the masses will keep on seeking things and spirits outside of Gods realm. We can only pray for them. We warn them and its up to them to figure it out. Love them and hope they see the light.

I have thought about this before. I think it does have a lot do largely with the fact that Tolkien was a Christian and affiliated with C.S. Lewis. If I could point out one difference, and I know this isn't very helpful, Harry Potter has a different vibe to it. It's not just that there is magic in both, sorcery is the center of all that is Harry Potter. Both are fiction as far as the presentations goes, but in my view, there exist a dark power and the worst thing we could teach our children is that it is a mere fantasy. It is nothing of the sort. Where should Christians go with this: Say "yes" to Harry Potter and no to The Lord of the Rings or say "no" to The Lord of the Rings and "no" to Harry Potter? It is a good question but it seems right to say "no" to Harry Potter and "yes" to The Lord of the Rings and perhaps good to say "no" to The Lord of the Rings too.

I feel I need to put this out there to ponder. So many excuse these stories books movies etc as innocent fun. Let back up a bit and remember that Satan was the highest most admired angel in heaven. He knows how to deceive people. To make it look good and innocent. He Is way smarter than any human. That is why we have to put on the armor of God and stay close to him at all times. beware of false teachings, no matter how nice they seem. Satan is cleaver. I do not say that to give him credit. is say it to warn the masses to being fooled. Ask God to show you what is good for you. Ask God to show you the truth about things we might think are innocent fun. You want the real answer ask him. Don't puff yourself up with pride thinking you have all the answers.

What qualifies as innocent fun?

You need to lighten up. You seem to be on a quest to convince people how evil these movies are. I have LOTR more times than I can count and I have no desire to dive off into witchcraft. I believe Inkachu is also a big fan. It is quite possible to watch a movie and just enjoy it without over analyzing it. It is up to each person to decide if they can or can't handle it and not watch it.

The chronicles of narnia is probably the worst one.

Hmm.

When my daughter was four years old, we sat together and watched an animated version of the "Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe." It wasn't a very good version, but for a four-year-old it was interesting enough.

When the story got to the part that the lion Aslan was resurrected, my daughter exclaimed totally on her own, "That's just like Jesus!"

That story is so transparently gospel that even a four-year-old made the correct connection.
