  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

By your same reasoning, the suggestion of the following image that Odin exists is true:

jesus-and-odin.jpg

Excellent point -- and unlike a Nephilim, AV would probably recognize an Ice Giant if he saw one.

A Nephilim, however, AV wouldn't recognize if it jumped out of a cake -- for all he knows, he could be living in the Nephilim neighborhood...

Their existence would falsify the Flood, since the Flood was designed to destroy them.

And you would certainly know if they existed or not.

The fact that they are gone, shows the Flood to have been not only real, but worldwide.

Unless, just like the Flood, they never existed at all. Your explanation is like saying that Norse mythology is real because we see no frost giants today.

EDIT: Oops, I see someone has already pointed out this obvious logical flaw.

Well, let's see...

On the one hand we have a whole raft of "intelligent design" advocates telling us that if the physical constants of the universe were off by 10^(-54) we could not exist, and on the other we have dad telling us it was all very different just a few thousand years ago.
Of course, I have never seen any evidence that any of the physical constants could be any different than what they are.

But the question is: What would falsify the Noachian global deluge? In this case the responsibility for answering the question would be with those who maintain that there was a world wide flood. The question would take the form: What would convince you that there had been no flood?

Then it would be up to those who doubt the flood to provide that evidence. I think we all know where AV1611VET would stand on the question. There is no evidence that would convince him. And dad would just wave his hand at any evidence and invoke some mysterious past state of mysteriously changed physics and chemistry.

In these cases, there is admittedly no way to change their minds. AV1611VET, were he being corrected by God himself, has indicated that he would call God a liar, and dad is on record as saying that he would in such a circumstance, kick God in the keister. (Considering the uncertain temper of the biblical deity, either of those stratgies might be a bit risky!)

But let's hear from some other inundators: What would sink your ark?

He might even be a nephil himself! It might have been a dark family secret, like being a Jew in Nazi Germany. You would certainly want to keep it a secret lest God should realize that he had left a few around and wipe out the whole human race again.

So now you're saying that water behaved back then just as it does now. You've just debunked your own "different state past" argument.
No! I asked how water in one state, such as the former state...could have behaved as if it were in this state!!!

I think that question has cropped up lately to try to get Christians to state the exact incorrect assumptions about the earth that some scientists are trying to advocate. Then only to say, "Aha!"

This kind of debating will only stagnate things. Best to examine all the evidence and be open to different assumptions. Open to the fact that man's assumptions could be wrong. That is what science is all about, isn't it?

A very good question -- one which your friend Walt completely fails to take into account, since his models assume a same state past.

What would convince you that there had been no flood?

What would convince you you had no mother?

So you're not going to answer the question. I think I already indicated that you wouldn't. I therefore asked for answers from others.

No! I asked how water in one state, such as the former state...could have behaved as if it were in this state!!!

You are never very clear about that, dad. What constants or laws have changed? Exactly how was this mysterious state different?

You know that's not true, don't you? If otherwise, please provide a link.
What he knows or doesn't know isn't the issue. Did you or did you not write that you would call God a liar if the account in the Bible were not literally true? Think carefully! I think I still have that link. It was a long time ago, but ... memorable. You have artfully dodged the question. You can answer truthfully, or lie, but unless you are completely dishonest you will have to live with the truthfull answer in this world or with the lie in the next. Or ... and this will cause you the least trouble, you can simply ignore the question. The truth will earn you the scorn of your fellow Christians. The lie will earn you my scorn, which I know you don't care about, and God's, which I suspect that you don't care about either.

Dad and AV1611VET having formally declined to answer the original question: What evidence would convince you there had never been a global, Noachian flood? The floor is open to others.

So you didn't want me to answer. OK.

You are never very clear about that, dad. What constants or laws have changed? Exactly how was this mysterious state different?
Constants were constant since this state started I assume. They would not change. Whatever changed left us with out constants!

What he knows or doesn't know isn't the issue. Did you or did you not write that you would call God a liar if the account in the Bible were not literally true? Think carefully! I think I still have that link.
That may have been me. I did get silly one time and say something like that if God went and told me His word was a lie, I would kick His butt.

Obviously there was some degree of bravado in that. But I would never see God lie like that, He isn't a liar.

Dad and AV1611VET having formally declined to answer the original question:
Now you want me to answer. You evos change like the wind.

What evidence would convince you there had never been a global, Noachian flood? The floor is open to others.
If it was not in God's word. Easy.

As for physical evidence, it all seems fine, and fits.

Perhaps the earth would look a lot more like features, say, found on Mars?

Or maybe a more simple one would be a lack of 72% of the surface being WATER?

Exactly! That is why the evos trounced him six ways from Sunday. However, when we add the actual nature that was in place to some of his ideas, it looks quite good. (no need for any hydro plate stuff either)

Here's your bologna, scientist:
A question for you: If god told you to do something that was in direct contridiction to the bible, would you do it? And I know what you're going to say 'bible is gods word, cant contridict it, blab blah'. Set that aside and work in the hypothetical to answer this question.
Hypothetically --- I'd say, "Get thee behind me, Satan."
That's a far cry from:
AV1611VET, were he being corrected by God himself, has indicated that he would call God a liar,
... but typical of scientists Arab phoning everything we say.

Care to retract your junk?

So you wouldn't call God a liar per se, you'd just accuse Him of being Satan in disguise -- that it?

I consulted his book actually. It was the first thing on creation science I read. Since there was some weakness, I ventured to try to find out where the problem lied.

And the only weakness you found was that he completely misread the workings of the universe back then?

Well, as long as it wasn't anything major...

One could hardly blame him since all of science does the same. Thankfully, the truth of the matter is finally coming out. After all, what else could it possibly be? Not like God is a liar or anything.
