  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

There is no threat here. Most Christians openly are aware and discuss
all possibilities.

Most home schooled Christians also are exposed to both sides.

What I have seen from this forum is a lot of hatred and
intolerance towards the Creationists/Christians view points.

All Christians that claim to take the Bible literally are threatened by the truth. You are, I am not saying that you lie, but you are threatened by the truth. That can be shown by your avoidance of real science sites and using lying creationist sites.

But you are correct that most Christians are open and aware to discussion. Most Christians also accept the theory of evolution. And that Noah's Ark was a myth.

As to apologists they have two choices, either they are complete idiots or they lie. Did you check out the link I gave you? You really should.

ETA: And of course you have seen a lot of intolerance of creationism. When people try to attack the education of young people responsible people get angry. Creationism is not a "victimless crime". If you wanted to keep it to yourself and not pass on your false beliefs to innocents no one would care. It is when young children who have no defense against false knowledge are taught this that evolutionists get angry. Worse yet when they try to spread it to other children besides their own.

If you were talking to someone who firmly and utterly believe that Santa Claus exists, and attributed the creation of earth, the universe, and everything in it to Santa based on the songs and stories about him, would you hate the myth of Santa?.

Evolution teaches false knowledge. Neither creation nor evolution should be taught in schools. The basics should be taught, yes. The rest that is on faith and presuppositions should not. It is the same as teaching a religion. I could easily make the same accusations towards evolution theory.

My kids are exposed to both sides and are completely free to make whatever choice they want to. Fortunately they are smart enough to see what is fact and what is not. It doesn't take a degree in science to see the obvious.

How so?

And you will, for lack of a better strategy.

My kids are exposed to both sides and are completely free to make whatever choice they want to. Fortunately they are smart enough to see what is fact and what is not. It doesn't take a degree in science to see the obvious.

And who is "exposing" both sides to them?

Wrong, if it was false your side would have been able to do that without lying. They could have done the science properly and had it peer reviewed. You could make the same accusations against evolution theory, you would be wrong, but you could make the same accusations.

And see, this is where you are being dishonest. When it comes to science there are not "two sides" to this idea. Peer review is an extremely important concept that your side tends to avoid. They avoid it at all costs. By doing so they admit that they are wrong.

Ooh, great idea for a new thread.

No, I don't hate evolutionists.

Sorry, you can't switch that one up that way. We can observe the natural causes of evolution today. So in other words we are seeing our version of "Santa" every day of the year, and not just at Christmas when we are asleep.

You failed, try again.

Really? You expose your kids to 'both sides' of every issue?

You let them attend services at mosques, so they learn about the Koran and its teachings and can compare it to Christianity?

You let them decide whether they can have vaccines or not, going off the words of Anti-Vaccers?

You let them decide whether they can take real medicine or have homeopathic treatments?

Please.

Don't try the 'I let my kids see both sides of the issue' canard. That's not how education works, it's never been how it works, and it shouldn't be. We do not give astrology equal time in the classroom with astronomy. We do not teach our children about the 'controversy' of homeopathic treatment in classes about medicine. There's a sea of countless alternative ideas about every subject you could name, and we could spend precious time in class teaching 'both sides' of every issue...but we don't. Because that's a monumental waste of time. Our education system is broken enough without turning it into a complete circus of half-baked ideas.

Sorry, I wasn't using Santa as a metaphor for evolutionists. I have yet to see one piece of evidence that indicates the Christian God is more likely to exist than Santa Claus.

There are thousands of gods and mythical creatures. You must have at least one piece of evidence that suggests the mythical creature you believe in exists, but the rest don't. Could you please provide it?

ED, I'm willing to bet you've told you kids about Hell.

So, when you tell them "You're free to believe in whatever you want", you are really saying "You are free to believe in whatever you want, but if you don't believe in what I believe in, you will have the flesh burnt from you bones for all eternity".

Not much of a choice is it?

What's wrong with this statement from a mentality point of view?

If I submitted "an empty tomb" as an answer, but said I didn't know where the tomb was, would your mindset automatically say I'm wrong?

If I submitted the Shroud of Turin as an answer, would your mindset automatically cause you to ROFL?

There is one key word in your statement above that I believe blocks you from truly understanding -- any idea what it is?

Just how much flesh do we have?

Can you tell me what his passage is saying:

Wrong on two counts. Men are apes. So that is a foolish claim at the start.

Second we have. There are many ways that events can be observed.

Read your Bible. I already provided the verses that claim this to you once.

Why do you pick and choose what parts of the Bible that you will believe?

I think the only reason you persist in perpetuating that untruth is because you have been brainwashed as a kid and brought up to believe it on faith. I'm just guessing here, not accusing.

No, I don't hate evolutionists.

A parable. I have just started school, and I find out that many of my classmates do not believe in Santa Claus, or at least not in most of the stories that have grown around him. They say that the toys we get on Christmas were not made especially for us personally by magic elves, but were ordinary store-bought toys purchased by our parents. I don't believe them, but being a bright and curious fellow, I decide to investigate. I'll prove that Santa is real. I find some toys hidden in a cabinet in the garage. They are still in the bags from the stores in the Mall, and they all have reciepts from those stores (the fossil record). I also find my parent's checkbook with the record of purchases in those same stores on the same days as the reciepts and for the same amounts (the geological record).

I could come up with a complicated explanation that preserves both the purchase of the toys by my parents, or I could fail to notice a key point of evidence, even when someone keeps trying to get my attention with it, or I could claim to have considered the evidence but found it unconvincing. After all, no one actually saw my parents buy the toys, so we don't know that they did, do we?

Or I could follow the basic principle of science that the least number of unfounded assumptions makes for a better working hypothesis. One assumption, that my parents purchased the toys to be given to me "from Santa" on Christmas morning fits all of the evidence.

No, you're accusing. And for someone who's made a habit lately of playing the victim card, you're being quite insulting.
