  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I had an amazing time at youth camp this week. I thought I would share some of the things I witnessed or heard while I was there. The most amazing thing to me was that 115 people were physically healed by God last night. My girlfriend has had trouble with her wisdom teeth and she said the pain disappeared last night. Another girl sprained her ankle and had to walk with a boot, but when we prayed for her she took that boot off and was able to jump around and worship God. Yet another boy was COMPLETELY healed of cerebral palsy. Many others were healed of migraines, joint aches, hurting muscles, infections, diseases, and many other things. God really worked in His house last night. We worshiped God for hours at a time at night, and prayer for others just as long. There were many people called to be missionaries to places like Russia, Egypt, Haiti, Canada, and many others that I haven't even heard of before, but God called them to go there. I thought it was interesting some of the occupations that God called people to be to like a comic book artist, a movie director, a lawyer, and others that I know God will reach others through. People were giving their testimonies and I just thought it was so amazing hearing how some people have gone through such terrible things, but stayed faithful to God through it all and were rewarded for being so strong. I myself rededicated my life to God and plan to follow God through all times. I've been thinking of playing guitar for the worship team at my church too when God put that on my heart. God is so good, and I hope people can have their faith lifted from reading my experience at this awesome week of camp.

Maybe you should visit your local hospital and visit the oncology department, or maybe the the orthopedic department at the VA and heal some amputees.

Maybe you could be more mature than a 8 year old and leave? I pray for others to be healed daily, you don't know if my prayers or others prayers help people in pain get healed or not. I was just saying it was amazing to see all this happen right in front of my eyes, to actually see our prayers coming true right in front of our eyes. This isn't a thread I want to debate on, this is just my experience. You don't have to believe it, but I saw it with my own eyes and I'll always cherish those memories.

I'm saying you're being irrationally credulous to believe what you claimed happened. It didn't.

Pray for just one amputee you may know and see if the limb is restored.

I'm laughing so hard at your response right now. So your saying that the youth camp I went to was fake and it was all set up so that people would just seem like they were healed before my eyes even though they were fine? That's so ridiculous. I saw these people in pain and know they had something wrong this whole week, and then last night I watched them healed. Cerebral palsy has no cure, but yet we prayed for hours and God took that from his body. That girl sprained her ankle in a game this week and after we prayed she was able to jump for God. You can say anything you want, but it makes no difference to me because I know now for a FACT that my God is real and He is alive in me and my brothers and sisters in Christ.

Yes, I'm saying that nobody with CP was healed at your youth camp. Don't be ridiculous.

I'm so glad I'm not as ignorant and close-minded as you are. Through God anything is possible. He HAD cerebral palsy, but God freed him from that pain. He was so happy and crying and just thanking the Lord for healing his body and we were all so happy for him. I know God has a lot in store for him. He is healed and everyone who is there knows that and I'm sure when he got to tell his parents today they were rejoicing. I love how you just had to focus on this one thing that happened though, you don't even care about what happened to the other people as long as you can try to prove my God wrong(which is impossible because God has everything planned out for everyone that has been born and ever will be born).

He told us from the beginning he had it. I know your just going to say he was lying, but you could tell he didn't always feel well and why would he tell us that if he didn't have it anyway?

That's nothing. I was shot in the face and a Pagan friend prayed to Asclepius then I was fine. Look, here is the photographic evidence to prove it

...And that's saying something considering I just turned 17 recently...

That explains a lot.
All right son, here's some free Internet advice:

If you're going to make outrageously extraordinary claims that fly in the face of logic and reality like the ones you've made in the OP, you're going to need some extraordinary evidence, or no one is going to take you seriously. I understand you want to give your testimony in the hopes it brings people closer to Jesus, but please consider your tactics; if it's not done right, you're likely going to drive people away and leave them with a rather poor opinion of Christianity and Christians.

How am I doing that? I was telling people about all the amazing things God did at camp. I know what God did because I saw it. If people want to say I'm a liar then go ahead but that's just ignorance.

No, that's being skeptical, which is a very good thing.

If you go back a few pages you'll see TG123 started a thread with his testimony. He did not use any scripts. It was not a drive by proselytizing. He did not threaten or insult anyone. He did not say anyone was possessed or deceived by demons. He did not make up stories about how he was once like us and spiraled into an impossibly horrible life and then everything was roses and lollipops the instant he converted. He made no outrageous claims (had I not been familiar with him already, I might have doubted his story about being assaulted overseas, but he's legit). We still disagree on a lot of things, but he has my respect.

Read through the posts of ViaCrucis. You'll find he's a Christian who is the opposite of a right-wing wingnut. We do agree on many things and he is secure and sincere in his faith. He has my respect because he can intelligently and eloquently show how us how is walk with Christ fits into the reality that we experience.

Witnessing is a skill and an art. If things are as you believe, then countless souls are on the line.

I didn't say anything like that, and Hitch came here to attack me and it seemed like you were trying to do the same. I don't like being skeptical about anything. I either believe it or I don't believe things. I believe God drastically changed lives and I saw it. It's up to other people if they believe or not and if you choose not to believe then that is your own fault for being so close-minded.

I didn't say anything like that,

I didn't say you did (except for the outrageous claims). Those are techniques we've all encountered a thousand times. If you're ever tempted to use one of them, I can tell you they won't work.

and Hitch came here to attack me

He called you out. That's not an attack. I believe the point he was trying to make was that if those events really did happen, we would expect it would be a global sensation, reported in the media for months and each person studied by countless doctors. And if these events are true, then why wouldn't these people go around the world healing incurable diseases and medical conditions all the time?

and it seemed like you were trying to do the same.

I poke fun.

I don't like being skeptical about anything. I either believe it or I don't believe things.

Then I think you're setting yourself up for a world of confusion and frustration when you come to realize that some things you believe were wrong (and I'm not necessarily talking about religious beliefs). Don't let yourself be taken advantage of.

I believe God drastically changed lives and I saw it. It's up to other people if they believe or not and if you choose not to believe then that is your own fault for being so close-minded.

Let me introduce you to a concept called burden of proof. That means that the person who makes a positive assertion is responsible for providing the evidence to support said assertion. For example, if I said there is an invisible flying unicorn that lives on Uranus, would be closed minded for not believing me? No. My claim about the unicorn is not consistent with our experience of the natural universe, so you would be correct to reject my claim unless I could provide convincing evidence.
