Please tell me what on earth Jimmy Swaggart Ministries is doing printing CD covers for Hip Hop Artists and Posters for an area Lesbian bar in their non-profit ministry printshop? How can they so adamantly preach against what they themselves are doing? How can people continue to support a ministry that operates at this level of hypocrisy? The story of the print shop escapades can be found at deception bytes dot com. There are also several other articles regarding this ministry there as well. The one I am specifically referring to is called, "Jimmy Swaggart's Very Crooked Halo." It is no wonder the name of Christ has been brought into ill repute- this sort of thing makes me embarrased!

Like the Lord says in Matthew 7, you will know a tree by it's fruit. I'm not judging Jimmy Swaggart, only the Lord knows his heart, but what type of fruit is he and his ministry producing? Knowing what we do about his past and how he handled it, I would call into question the motives that man has for serving. Is it for money and fame? Or is he genuine in serving the Lord? I would say probably he is in it for fame (my own personal opinion). Now the Lord is faithful to His Word and even in Matthew 7 He says people will believe they are saved because they have done miracles and ministry in His name. So to say that Jimmy Swaggart can not be fruitful for Jesus because he himself is in a wrong condition is inaccurate. I'm sure we all know people who are not bornagain or questionable, who have said some very biblical things. Just like I started with, a tree is known by it's fruit. We should always keep our eyes on Jesus and He will guide us. "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path." (Psalm 119:105) Do not let a flesh and blood minister be your mountain to hinder you from the blessings and joy that Jesus wants to give you!

You also have to keep in mind that many of these websites are searching frantically for something negative to say about believers. I don't really follow Jimmy Swaggart's ministry, but I take everything I read about ministers with a BIG grain of salt.
It's too easy to lie or exaggerate and turn something minor (or non-existent) into a big deal.

am of the mindset that doesn't badmouth pastors, churches, or denominations ... am more of the mindset that if we would all be more worried about what we're putting out there, it would be a lot more productive ...
every saint has a past and every sinner a future ... we have NO idea what work the Lord is doing in this man ... we can discern from his fruit much ... but just what fruit are we 'inspecting' ... his past ... if there is any kind of fruit from what the man is doing now it hasn't been determined or spoken that I'm aware of ... yes, there has been a past ... and yes the man has brought many to the Lord ... only the Lord knows where this man's heart is at at this moment ... not me or anyone else ...
this may sound a little harsh, but here's where the bottom line is for me ... we will never 'conquer' the 'mistakes' others make ... or the lies or any of it ... where the battle is won is with His Word ... for every moment someone spends trying to 'get the dirty scoop' on others, they could have spent that time putting out the Word ... every time a correct message or a scripture goes out it puts in place another bit of balance for the other message being sent out ... HIS WORD DOESN"T COME BACK VOID ... whereas digging up dirt ... what message does digging dirt up on someone give ... unless we absolutely know the truth, then we are spreading gossip ...
judging a man makes me embarrassed ... no matter what it's called ... it's not like this man's heart isn't known to the Lord ... and it is like this man's heart isn't known to us ...
from what is posted in the op all I see is judgement being made based on one site on the internet ...
it's asked how someone can support that kind of ministry ... another thing we can't know ... the reason why ...
again ... we ALL have a past ...
if the man asked for forgiveness and repented of his past ... then the Lord remembers it no more ... and neither should we ...
the past is the past ... and the future hasn't been yet ...
we should take the plank out of our own eye ... the spirit of prophecy is the testimony of Jesus Christ ... that is what we should be about ...

Ya, I don't take those things too serious till I've at least heard the other sides story. It could be an independent printer that prints for quite a few organizations and businesses. I don't know why any ministry would own a printing press. A denomination I can understand. They are big enough.

You know what is tragic about this? The Word of God, Jesus tells us as believers to beware of false prophets. He then said we will know them by their fruits! Jimmy Swaggart has been known to mess around with prostitutes and all sorts of evil, is it not right to expose one such as that so as to discourage others from following that example? Doesn't the Word tell us to mark those who "have a form of godliness but deny it's power" (2 Timothy 3:5)? Doesn't it tell us to "judge with righteous judgment" (John 7:24)? It's absolutely incredible how many people immediately accuse others of judging them or someone else for genuinely exposing a fault within another. You do know and understand that when the Bible says Judge not that ye be not judged it is saying do not look at someone who may be dressed like a poor man and think that they are unworthy of the Lord or of your favourable opinion. It does not mean when we know someone is living in a lie, or when they are teaching falsely, or even more tragically when we tell someone about their faults in a genuine attitude of love with the intent to see them repent and change that we are judging them inaccurately or unrighteously. Shame on us if we allow someone else to live in an ungodly way, but yet allow them to carry the blessed name of our Lord and Savior around while showing that life style to others. You are saying then that you approve of that lifestyle and agree with it. Jimmy Swaggart has never repented publicly of his faults, and as a pastor, as a minister, as a man who is known worldwide as a teacher of the Word, he owes it to everyone who listens to him to publicly renounce and repent of the things he has done wrong! Yes, we all have done wrong! Yes, we all have our faults and have all failed. But Hebrews 13:7 says to mark those who are in authority over us and imitate them and their faith. Should we allow such a teacher and "leader" to lead others astray? Yes, God can use anyone to spread His Word, and He has before. Did He not use a donkey in Numbers to tell Balaam about his sin? Did Jesus not say that the very rocks would cry out if we kept from praising Him? Lastly, the Word of God repeatedly says that if a righteous person abandons their righteousness to follow the way of evil, or to practice wickedness God will forget that they ever were righteous! It is right to warn others about this ministry and tell them that they should mark it and avoid it's unrighteousness.

Yes, Jimmy Swaggart has ask forgiveness of the Lord and done so publicly. He is now forgiven and it is wrong for us to not forgive what God has forgiven.
Jimmy now preaches a message of the cross and his ministry is reaching out to thousands of people through his SonLife Radio stations as well as TV.

Im not even going to waste my time or effort trying to show any of you the truth. Its pointless, if you, along with 90% of the rest of Christianity want to believe that lie then do so. Its unfathomable that a child of God would allow such nonsense to go on in the church and not try to confront it.

Who said anything about him being unforgivable? Wow, really? Dont put words in my mouth please. Theres a huge difference between a Christian who needs reproved of a habital, continual sin that they dont repent of, ad an unbeliever who needs grace. Didnt Paul say in Romans, or more like ask, Should we continue to sin so that grace can abound? Obviously a rhetorical question because he answers it by saying God forbid! and explaining that whatever we submit to, whether sin or righteousness, that is the thing we are enslaved to. What Im talking about is us, as believers, having a responsibilty to lovingly, and gently correcting other believers who are falling away in sin. Completely different from what you are talking about. Read Ezekiel sometime, God tells him repeatedly to warn the righteous and unrighteous alike that living in sin will bring death, not tell just the unbelieving because we dont want to seem judgmental to those who say they believe. If you truly care about someone else, who will tell them things to make them better, not just what they want to hear. If you knew someone who was driving towards the edge of a cliff you'd warn them right? You wouldn't keep your mouth shut because you didn't want them to feel like you were judging them for being a bad driver would you? You would warn them because you care. Thats what this is about.

:o my statement was in NO way directed to anyone ... it was a simple observation of what can happen if one never lets the past die ... this is the second time you've come at me with accusations that aren't true when I happen to have an opinion you don't agree with ... not going to get into an arguement with you ... and especially one that doesn't exist ...
am quite aware of what the op is about ...
am quite aware of the accountability for not speaking ... quite a difference between warning someone and coming on a forum to discuss the 'wayward ways' of someone's past ...
to whomsoever will ... I spent considerable time this morning trying to track down info on this issue of hip hop and other such topics and the legitamcy of the accusation ... it's quite possible I don't know where to look, but I could not find one thing about the truth of this ... all I found were people accsuing these things ... book or no book ... must not be to big of a public outcry about it ... even looked at a site that does nothing but scrutinze these ministries ...will see if I can find the link again ...

Be careful what you read. Some of this is nothing more that an attack of the Devil on the Swaggart ministry. You have swallowed it like it was Bible! I would be careful about depending on the critics and their propaganda. You may be judging another man's ministry wrongly. That is serious business.
