  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Are we not the shepherds of the World? Should we abuse the Earth for our own selfish gain? Shouldn't green initiatives be a way to harness the power given to us by Allah?

Allah gave us the world, and it is up to us to use the World responsibly.

We are in a battle in America between the faith, beliefs, and principles
of our Founding Fathers and the faith, beliefs, and principles of the
worst butchers in history, including Vladimir Lenin and Adolf Hitler.

CHRISTIANITY and CAPITALISM versus MARXISM and the GREEN AGENDA
So the battle is between those forces who committed genocide on a native people in the push westward, or a commie who wanted equality for people who you lump in with a despot who also committed genocide against a race of people.

I'll pass.

I think there is a battle of visions but it is not as simple as one side vs the other. Christianity faces multiple world views that are at odds with it. Although I find capitalism mostly harmless and not truly a philosophy merely an economic model that has evolved over time, there is a hedonistic and self centered aspect to those like Ayn Rand that would put it in the same category as a philosophy that is not in any way in keeping with the tenets of Christianity.

American nationalism isn't = Christianity and capitalism

or a commie who wanted equality for people who you lump in with a despot who also committed genocide against a race of people.

Because that commie (who most certainly was also a despot) acted with no less brutality than the Tsar ever did, and organized a system that rivalled Hitler's in brutality and inhumanity.
The "Lenin wasn't too bad...it was only Stalin who was the problem"-bovine manure is getting old, and people should stop buying it.

You conveniently ignore the similarities between the genocide in the Americas and the genocide in Europe. It's rather telling that you did that.

Ah yes. Christianity and capitalism. The two go so well together. I'm pretty sure it goes all the way back to Jesus's time when he encouraged people to set up banks and lending businesses right near Holy Temples.

What are you smoking? That didn't make any sense at all!

the "faith, beliefs and principles" of the founders in the USA was in fact behind the decimation of the native population here.

The reason for the decimation of the Native Americans (those that didn't succumb to unintended effects of imported diseases, industrial-scale hunting of buffalos, etc) was Manifest Destiny. And there's nothing inherently Christian in nationalism. That's not to say that Christians can't be nationalists, but to say that you can't blame Christianity for what happens when nationalism has horrible consequences.

Actully christianity gave birth by proxy to authoritarian systems like Facism and Communism by spending the years 100-1700 instiling a culture of authoritarian beliefs and moral leashes telling people whats "right and wrong" causing any new political or ideological systems to follow suit. All this while places with limited church influences or where the church where placed under the government ended up giving birth to liberalism and capitalism (like the UK).

So.....Christianity leads to authoritarianism...
Would you then care to explain the authoritarian nature of Imperial China, or Imperial Japan? There's "authoritarian" for you, and neither place did Christianity have much influence.
