I think.

Everythings going wrong. I'm so broken and low right now. I need a saviour. So why is it so hard to give my life to Him? I've wanted to do this for so long but always have had reservations. My pride is strong. Lord I believe, help my unbelief. Anyone have any advice on how to surrender? I don't know what to do.

I will be praying for you! I know myself how hard it is to fully surrender, but it is a process. It may seem slow-going at first, but God can help you, if you just trust Him. Please don't give up, and please don't give in. He can bring you peace.

Bless your heart. I just prayed and I am just so distraught. I am literally sweating and shaking while I pray because I have a lot of resentment for being left alone in my despair. I hope he answers me.

He is there. We don't always feel Him, because there are SOOOO many distractions, but He never leaves our side. God inspired me to write about his love, and I want to share it with you :) Please read!

God did not call us to be religious, Jesus rebuked the Pharisees for their outspoken religious posturings, but yet abundant lack of true faith in God. And we still have "Pharisees" today, but today they have means of mass communication, and are called by different names. God said be holy, not apostolic, not protestant, not baptist, not catholic, just holy.
And to be honest, I have felt the presence of God as if it were me and Him, and the feeling was so beautiful that I truly wished that every single person would feel that presence like I did. I wish that for a second, every single person could see God through all the ritualistic paint we cover Him with. God is so incredibly amazing and wise, and truth be told, no one living could possibly understand how much He just wants to BE with us, hold our hands so that we feel joy that is impossible to rightly describe. God is LOVE! True love, the kind that will just BE forever and ever! Love that doesn't stop or diminish because we do something we shouldn't, like lie or steal. Love that will allow us to create our own destiny, even if that destiny is far away from Him. Love that allows us to be US, even when US is not very nice, and with all His power, He carries the knowledge that He can change us but the wisdom to leave us to our will and desire. Love that will wrap His arms around us whenever we desire, but only when we ask, because He does not desire for His presence to discomfort us. Love that stays even when we believe it won't, because its patience knows no bounds.
That's what God is.

Why are you so impatient? Doesn't learning require time and experience? Just make that decision to obey Him and become Christian on the spot. Stop thinking like a non-Christian and start listening to what He says to you.

Proverbs 18:12
Pride ends in destruction; humility ends in honor.

Do you just want God to fix your problems? Doesn't life bring consequence for action? Change your actions and the consequences will follow.

I want to pray for you, can you describe your problems so I can make a proper petition?

Praying that the Lord gives you peace, calm, clarity of mind and rest. He wants to take you and carry you close to his heart and give you his unfailing love.

Read Isaiah chapter 40

Listen to this song and pray to be in the Lords presence, find rest for your soul and the Lords peace.

Listen to this song, pray and ask to be in the Lords presence, to have peace and rest.

One thirst - Bethel Church (Feat. Jeremy Riddle/Steffany Frizzell ) (Worship with lyrics) - YouTube

Another song that will bless you and shows the Lords unfailing love.

I am impatient because I've been trying to draw near to God for the past 6 years. Praying off and on. I just did 4 years in prison. All my relationships with people are failing. I am about to lose my apartment and am facing homelessness. It's very difficult to be patient in a situation like this. I don't understand why all this bad stuff is happening. I guess I'm being punished for sin? I dunno, seems a little extreme.

Thanks to everyone for the replies. I was a mess last night. I found a verse that has helped and comforted me immensely.

Psalm 37:7-9
Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act. Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes. Stop being angry! Turn from your rage! Do not lose your temper—it only leads to harm. For the wicked will be destroyed, but those who trust in the Lord will possess the land.

I think I am going to give God another shot. He has obviously given me another shot over and over again. My faith is weak but I would rather try than give up.

Some of my most rewarding (I grew the most) experience was working with prisoners teaching a Sunday Bible class. I only wish you could have been around those guys, I envied their fellowship, example of Love and commitment. It was harder for them on the outside, even though they were tempted and beaten almost daily while on the inside.

The pride you have is really a false pride (I know it is not motto to be taking charity) and as a man you should just hang in there and take your punishment to your death, but please don’t do that. The lowliest person on earth can accept help from the benevolent Creator, so do not think for a minute your “doing” anything special.

God does not want to get you to “do” something, but wants to give you something and all you have to do is accept it. If you will just humbly accept God’s charity (forgiveness) than you will automatically Love much, Jesus has taught us “…he that is forgiven much Loves much…”

Quit thinking: “I am in this terrible situation because of my past sinning” as a Christian the situation you are in no matter how bad is for the good you can do and not for the bad you did do!!!

Look around there are tons of good stuff you can be doing and allow the indwelling Holy Spirit to help you do that stuff. There are people worse off then you, so offer to help them. There are Christians wanting to help the homeless, volunteer to help them.

I have known lots of young men worse off then you, that are spiritual giants in the kingdom today.

Thanks for the encouragement. I forget that there ARE people worse off than me. I did a lot of bible study in prison and somehow lost it when I got out but I intend to get it back by the grace of God.

Under your own strength, you can't. However the Christian life is not an instantaneous thing. The entire Christian life is a lesson of surrender, and even more so, it's a lesson in learning how to die.

One doesn't just go from point A to point B in one night. That's why God gave us Means. Have you been baptized? If not, nothing is stopping you. Baptism is the birth canal of faith, by it God brings us through the water into new life with Him. God gave us the Church by which we gather, receive the Word which feeds us, nourishes us, every Scripture as a meal that breathes new life into us as we are fed Christ in the Word. And also the Eucharist, by which we receive Christ really and present in and under the bread and the wine.

God gave us these Means because the Christian life is not one which can be lived alone, under our own power. He has called us into a life-together--in the Spirit--, where we are soaked with grace upon grace by His Word and Sacraments which knit us together as His people. Whereby we are dying to sin, and coming alive to God, being conformed to the image of Christ and growing, all of us together, in Him.

I have been baptized. I need to go back to church. I think missing that community has really made me lose my faith in a lot of ways. I know in the past recieving Eucharist has brought me to tears; I think there is definately something to this. I have such a rebelious spirit and I need God to help me with that.

You're definitely not alone. We all do. We're a cantankerous lot, stubborn, pig-headed. That's just human nature though.

It's important not to be too hard on yourself about this. Grace means that God knows you inside and out, with every flaw, and has quite--in His own loving stubbornness--decided to embrace you, love you, and accept you. That's what the Cross of Jesus Christ means, God's loving embrace of us sinners and identification with humanity in all its weakness.

When St. Paul requested that the Lord remove the "thorn from his flesh", the answer he received is one all should take to heart, "My grace is sufficient for you, My strength is made apparent in weakness."

Dear mjb72384. You had good advice, and here is one more. God is Love,
and Jesus died out of Love for God and for us. Love is a Christian`s strong
weapon, Love will overcome all enmity and bad behaviour. Also, Love is very catching and people around us will treat us the same.
Jesus told us in Matthew 22, verses 35-40: " The first and great Commandment is: Love God with all our hearts, with all our souls, and with
all our minds. The second is like it: Love our neighbour as ourselves."
Then Jesus states this true fact: " On these two Commandments hang all the
Law and the Prophets." Love is very important to God and Jesus.
We start by treating all we know and all we meet, friends and not friends,
as we would love to be treated. Kindly and with friendly words, helping hands and being good neighbours. God sees our sincere efforts, and God will approve and bless us, God will also know, that we love God, Why??
We are following God`s Commandments to love and care. All we say and do,
should be done with love and compassion.
Jesus will give us His Love and Joy, and the Holy Spirit will empower us with His Love, also. Then we thank God and share all Love and Joy with all around us. God will keep giving us Love and sending us men and women, and we can show the World whom we represent, and whom we Love.
We are God`s children/sons and daughters, and God is our Heavenly Father.
Jesus our Saviour is always ready to lead us all the way, in fact: Jesus is
The Way. Let God know that you are ready to become a Christian, and let
Jesus lead us on and on. I say this with love, mjb. Greetings from Emmy,
your sister in Christ.

Find the nearest Catholic parish and ask to speak to the priest.

I am impatient because I've been trying to draw near to God for the past 6 years. Praying off and on. I just did 4 years in prison. All my relationships with people are failing. Yes speak to a priest, you need to absorb The Holy Spirit. Get involved with Christians who can demonstrate Christ to you, make their friendship your primary goal. Go to your church, see what activities you can get engaged with that will strengthen you. Bible studies will get your foot in the door. You are telling us that you need that sort of support.

Beyond that I don't know what advice I can offer you, your financial situation is obviously challenging and I don't know what opportunities you have to improve that. I know that higher education pays off large dividends. Here in NZ the government will pay a student allowance and lend the course costs while we study. I assume there is a similar system in USA? Look into that, because a doubled or tripled salary will ensure that you don't get into that situation again. The days of our lives are limited, that means we have a limited capacity to earn. Do whatever you can to increase your earning capacity while you have the chance.

Enough of that, let's put your situation before God.

Dear Lord Jesus, we thank you for your mercy and grace, and we ask for your light to shine warmly upon our brother, to bring him into the light that he may be a lamp to the world. We remember your words "If a sparrow is worth two pennies, yet the Father provides for them, think how much more you are worth to God". We ask for your divine Spirit to reveal the bible to him, that the meaning of Matthew 6:31-33 will become his primary focus in life. Open his mind to see the opportunities before him, stir up in him a desire to choose the path which will reap the greatest harvest for your kingdom. Open the doors before him, that he will come into contact with your people and develop strong relationships with them, that he will witness your Spirit through them and demonstrate your Spirit to them. We pray for your peace to be upon his mind as he ponders his path, remove all anxiety and fear and give him pragmatism. Speak to him through the people he encounters, train him as he grows in faith. Tackle his disbelief and prove your might to him, that he will become a strong soldier for truth. Lord, we know that you gave your life for us, that we may have life. Help us to remember that as we go through our daily activities. Lord, send your angels to guard us from danger and keep us safe from trouble. Stir up in our brother a passion for glorifying you and bringing glory to your name in everything he does. Dear Lord Jesus, please save this man from the enemy who is opposing him. Amen.

Speak to a career advisor quickly because you need to take action to improve your life. It won't happen by itself. I hope you get the inspiration you need.
