I think the fact that a 6 year old thread can be posted on without missing a beat shows us just how the same questions/debates we have been having for the last 6 years have not made any progress.
Really, we all are just pinning our wheels with these type of debates because no one is changing sides.

From a Biblical standpoint, from God's viewpoint, we are not animals...that's all that matters to me.
Doesn't the bible distinguish between man and beasts, as in "beasts of the field?" Also, your god made you an animal. He gave you the circulatory, pulmonary, nervous, reproductive, immunological systems of an animal. Was that a mistake on his part?
The OT book of Daniel and the NT book of Revelation of the Christian bible mentions a "beast".Because just like you and me he was an animal and just like him our knowledge will die when we die.
Absolutely not. Don't you forget the last "breath" from God. That makes all the differences.
Do you disagree that we have a well-defined shape?
Well, I'm sure we have no idea what you are.I disagree with that one, but hey, don't judge me! I'm eating better and going for walks.

Is this symbolizing a literal beast or a person?
Young) Daniel 7:11 `I was seeing then, because of the voice of the great words that the horn is speaking,
I was seeing till that the beast is slain, and his body hath been destroyed, and given to the burning fire;
Young) Revelation 19:20 and the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet who did the signs before him, in which he led astray those who did receive the mark of the beast, and those who did bow before his image;
living they were cast--the two--to the lake of the fire that is burning with brimstone;

Ahhh funny *dries eyes...
Read the passage. It doesn't say he is testing us to show we die like animals but to show that we are animals.Okay, lets pick the passage apart.
Eccl 3:18-20:
I said in my heart with regard to the children of man that God is testing them that they may see that they themselves are but beasts.
What kind of testing is the passage referring to? Is it a biology test or DNA test to prove humans are animals? Surely not! The Bible is not about science and biology.
The testing is simply to show that apart from God we die like animals.
Man is compared to beasts, not because we share the same biology, but because we share the same fate of death with the animals: For what happens to the children of man and what happens to the beasts is the same; as one dies, so dies the other.
Man also has no advantage over the animals because they both breathe the same air and without that air they both share the same fate of death: They all have the same breath, and man has no advantage over the beasts,
The writer is also making the point that mans life seems rather meaningless because in the end we all share the same fate of death with the animals: for all is vanity. All go to one place. All are from the dust, and to dust all return.
You mean some less literal translations try to avoid the meaning of the text?Other Bible translations make this point clearer by saying that man is like the animals or no better than animals, and show that man is like the animals simply because we share a similar experience (breathing) and a similar fate (death).
The NIV says:
18 I also thought, As for men, God tests them so that they may see that they are like the animals. 19 Man's fate is like that of the animals; the same fate awaits them both: As one dies, so dies the other. All have the same breath; man has no advantage over the animal. Everything is meaningless.
The NLT puts it quite nicely:
18Then I realized that God allows people to continue in their sinful ways so he can test them. That way, they can see for themselves that they are no better than animals. 19 For humans and animals both breathe the same air, and both die. So people have no real advantage over the animals. How meaningless!
Doesn't 'For' usually give us reasons for something? THe writer is show us the reason he said we are beasts.The For is to show the similarity between man and beasts they both share the same fate of death:
For what happens to the children of man and what happens to the beasts is the same; as one dies, so dies the other.
No, God is testing them that they may see that they themselves are but beasts.The only testing I see here in this passage is to show that apart from God mans ultimate fate is to die like animals.
Certainly the writer is telling us to fear God, and show us we are in ourselves animals, animals in whose hearts God has written eternity. We have this longing written in our hearts and are lost without God.The writer is teaching us a spiritual lesson of the need to Fear God in light of the pathetic fate we will be stuck with if we dont. His intent is that we Fear God and be rescued from that pathetic fate of dying like animals. The whole book of Ecclesiastes is intended to make that point:
Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil. (Eccl 12:13-14).
I have a shirt just like that!So only nudists are animals?
