  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

There are a growing number of Christians who have rejected the idea of hell because we think it is illogical and unbiblical. We still believe in Jesus Christ as the Son of God, we believe that he will resurrect us from death when he returns and he will give us eternal life. In fact, I believe every word of the Nicene Creed, which incidentally, doesn't say one word about hell.

Obviously I share those beliefs that Hell doesn't exist. I was just putting forward that argument based on the traditional view of hell... where if you confess your sins and believe in Jesus, you'll be saved.

Many Christians still follow that line of thought, so my argument in regards to them is still quite valid.

Thanks, I just didn't want you to come away from here with the impression that all Christians are the Hell-fire and Brimstone type.

Well, that's fairly obvious... when I still considered myself a Christian, I didn't put much stock in the hellfire and brimstone ideas either :)
