  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Africans don't need to be told what they want, they know what they want already. They would take it from the west if they could. It's being withheld, people like you and me hold it from them.

What percentage is right? How should Benny be living (please use scripture here) in material terms, according to the bible.

Lets apply that same standard to you as well.

You don't need money, you could get by without it. Admit it.

I'm not going to continue to argue with you because you seem enamored with Benny Hinn and he apparently can do no wrong in your eyes.

I pray that one day your eyes are opened and you can see him for what he truly is.

has nothing to do with Benny at this point... has to do with how you measure wealth, and how the bible commands us or expects us to handle it

money can be counted, and you seem to be counting it

I told you I am not going to argue with you anymore, especially now that you are trying to take the focus off of Hinn and put it on me. This thread isn't about me, it's about Hinn.

I have a right to my opinion and to share them how I wish. What I am saying isn't against scripture.

You continue to support him, and I will continue to voice my opinion on how he isn't leading by example, how he doesn't need a mansion or doesn't need as many cars as he has.

I support scripture. And if Benny is contradicting scripture in what he does, I want to know about it.

Where in the bible does it say Christians can't save money, can't own mansions or nice cars?

Have you read the book of proverbs? It's practical a how-to-get-rich book.

Prosperity gives charismatic Christianity a bad name. But, Christians in America don't even know what the bible says about it.

So the Mathew 6:19-21 doesn't apply, huh?

Tell me, do you honestly know where his heart is? I know that I can't say for sure where his heart is, but it certainly doesn't look like it may be where it's supposed to be. As I said, lead by example.

Many years ago, my ex-girlfriend and I could have sued two hospitals for medical malpractice in regards to a pregnancy and birth where she was burned during the cesarean on her stomach and chest. We would have gotten multi-millions from it. Even though we weren't Christians we decided to leave well enough alone. We didn't need the money. We were content with what we had and trust me, that wasn't much.

Oh and as an answer to your question, I read the book of proverbs once a month for an entire year.

I don't believe in the prosperity doctrine as it pertains to material wealth here on Earth.

I am not a pentecostal and avoid pentecostal churches as much as I can.

Luckily for us, Jesus addresses inequality of wealth:

9 “The workers who were hired about five in the afternoon came and each received a denarius. 10 So when those came who were hired first, they expected to receive more. But each one of them also received a denarius. 11 When they received it, they began to grumble against the landowner. 12 ‘These who were hired last worked only one hour,’ they said, ‘and you have made them equal to us who have borne the burden of the work and the heat of the day.’

God gives more to some, less to others, who are we to question?

you need to work on your reading comprehension. Nowhere did I mention prosperity doctrine. The english word prosperity has been a part of the bible since it was translated.

My reading comprehension is just fine, thank you.

Insults will get you no where.

"Prosperity gives charismatic Christianity a bad name."

That is what you wrote.

Hmm... seems they were all paid the same amount. One denarius, no more, no less.

did it ever occur to you that its Gods will for all of us to live in prosperity?

I don;t believe that it is God's will for all of us to have material prosperity. I believe the prosperity he is speaking of is strictly spiritual and nothing more.

He will provide for us what we need, that we don't ever have to worry about, however, He will not always give us what we want, or think we want.

I keep very open definitions.

The more you include in a definition, the more the Word of God is enabled to cover in your life.

If you leave yourself too open, you run the risk of being tossed about by which ever way the wind blows.
