Yeah, but there's this problem in that Jesus actually said John WAS Eiljah:
Where is the common sense in "Let the dead bury their dead."
And yet Jesus said that too.
And it did mean something worthwhile.
The Bible does not always speak in the most straightforward common sense language. At times it seems to speak in a code. Those reading it with spiritual eyes can understand it. Those reading it in a wholly worldly fashion seem to miss out sometimes.
The vast majority of people who heard Jesus had functional eyes and ears. How could they "see not" and "hear not"?

I haven't seen any reason to think the 2 witnesses in Revelation are Enoch and Elijah. They could be be. But they could just as well be someone else.
If your rationale is that they are the only 2 Biblical figures that were taken to heaven, then it seems you have a problem on your hands because there are 3 such figures?
