Age at which you think you STOPPED getting spanked

I don't even remember when my parents stopped. I suspect I was about 9 or 10.

if a parent chooses that particular form of punishment, think it should stop well before highschool. at that point, they are young adults and they need to be treated like it.

I remember getting hit right before my senior prom. haha.

7, whipped with the metal end of a belt. That's when I moved to a more lenient foster home, and then after I was adopted other than my grandmother spanking me once (and getting reamed out by my mother about it) it never happened again.

I quit being spanked when my parents realized that no matter what they did I would be a heathen. Seems the only thing they DID do that worked eventually is pray, cause I eventually came around.

If I become a parent I will use whatever works, different things work with different kids, if it happens to be a firm hand to the backside, then so be it.

I will NOT be one of these parents (like the one I saw last time I drove past the mall that was screaming bloody murder, called his mother a B........ saying she didnt buy him the right shoes.) that gets stepped on because they aren't willing to at least TRY to see if spanking is what teaches that kid.

Never spanked. I dont think it teaches anything, except that hitting is ok when you are upset with someones behavior.

Never got spanked to begin with. It's been against the law since 1979 in Sweden.

How can you ever grow and learn as a child if you're always afraid of physical punishment? Respect shouldn't come from fear. Those who spank their children usually say "I got spanked as a child, it hasn't done me any harm". Well obviously it did do them harm since they grew up to be child beaters.

I remember that it had absolutely no effect on me except to breed resentment towards my parents after the age of 10, though.

My guess is that it was around the 7-8 age range.

I'm a big believer in spanking, mostly because my parents did it right with us kids.

I have no idea what age I was, but apparently I was only spanked once as a child - for running into the street. I'm not sure if that was before kindergarten or after, so I voted elementary school.

As a parent, I stopped using spanking as an option when my kids were old enough to have a conversation about what they did wrong and I tried other things before that time too. I don't consider it an option anymore, as my youngest is 7 and I don't even threaten it.
