  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

OK, nevermind.
It's no big secret. Just a Christian forum that claims to be a training environment for teaching Christian apologetics. Problem is, if you aren't 100% in line with the views of the owner, you are treated to unmerciful abuse and ridicule. It is a seriously toxic environment, and I don't recommend it to anyone.

CARM is fine if you know what you're talking about and can engage in discussion with sources and authority. But, I found it boring. I just don't care enough about the Calvinist vs Arminian, Catholic vs. Protestant, Orthodox vs Everybody and Everybody vs the Cults debates anymore.

Alot of people seem to be trained in only be able to think within terms of "Us vs Them" rather than knowing how to walk together despite differences and see where people can contrast---and sometimes, be the proverbial "two sides of the same coin"

Did all that, though not through CARM. Wouldn't want to sit through it all again, whoever is doing it!

Most of my arguments against the talmud so far have been on its history, and that of the people who wrote it, not its content.
Primarily, this isn't true. But this also was not my claim. My claim was that you did not share any original ideas, only quoted very questionable sources.

Would I need to study the koran or the book of Mormon to know they are not of YHWH?
The issue is you make claim to a faith called Messianic Judaism. This means you hail to a "Judaic" heritage. If you hailed to a Mormon heritage or Islamic heritage, then I would understand your argument here. But if you want to claim some sort of heritage with Judaism, then you would need to study each of the components you wish to pick and choose. Why would you choose to keep one component and toss aside another? According to the faith here on these boards and the icon you have chosen to bear on your profile, you adhere to a Jewish faith. Then when you choose to idealize some parts of the Jewish faith and deny other parts, one must ask... Where is your measuring line? How do you make such decisions? Why toss aside some things and why pick up others?

What makes them false is that they claim the authority of the creator (under whatever name they use), and mix truth with falsehood.
So when you make statements like this in reference to the Talmud, one assumes you've put SOME level of study into it. Otherwise, I think we can all confidently ignore anything you have to say on the subject... right?
