  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Jasper gave a good reply here. As a general rule I don't recommend one begin a study of the Bible in Genesis, though. Read the Gospels --especially John, to learn about our Savior and Lord, and then read Romans to learn about salvation. After that I suggest one alternate weekly readings in the OT and the NT. If one prays earnestly to God He will lead and teach the seeker.

I actually have no access to any forms of The Good Book at the moment, but am trying my best to acquire one.

In the meantime, I hope it is all right if I continue to ask questions here!

In a debate with my brother this morning, he claimed that as long as the distance is >1 member apart, a sexual (for pro-creation) relationship is all right. I disagreed, on the basis that the relationship would be incestuous, and therefore in sin. Am I wrong in my stance? And incest is a sin, correct?

Adam had many sons and daughters (Genesis 5:4), so for the third generation to be born at least one pair of these siblings must have pro-created. Pretty messed up. It's worth pointing out all of this happens after the fall. God created a "very good" world but when sin entered it everything was adversely affected, including human relationships.

It's completely hypothetical and impossible to answer but I wonder what the world would've been like had Adam and Eve never sinned? Perhaps God would've continued to make men out of dust and women out of ribs? Who knows?!

So wait, we're all Adam & Eve's kids?

Okay that would mean that we are all results of incest... And any time we pro-create it is incest?

How do we deal with that? Are we all hellbound because of it? And what of our form? If Adam and Eve's offspring made coitus to make us, how come we aren't mutant-people, like when IMMEDIATE family members mate (&have flipper grandkids?) Surely the laws of proceration that exist today existed then?

I've heard that after the Fall that Adam and Eve's genes weren't as corruptible so inbreeding was ok for that time but not anymore. I hope that helps.

This was what I was going to say. Human genes started deteorating many years after the fall but up the Abraham's time and even a bit after, inbreeding would have been safe.

Also inbreeding was also done in Abraham's time because they were marrying in the faith and the only folks who shared their true belief in God would be members of their extended families. With the introduction of the Children of Israel, when the faith become more widespread and the nation grew, inbreeding became unnecessary as well as dangerous.

To INKWIRING, according to the bible, we are all descendants of Adam and Eve and there is nothing wrong with that.
