It's reality, AV -- which, I grant you, has nothing whatsoever to do with this thread.
If you two don't mind stepping out of the way and letting someone more qualified in answering questions the way they were written, I would sure appreciate it.

It's YEC, not Last Thursdayism.

If it was Last Thursdayism, you would have to admit that the rock is 10,000 years old.

And inasmuch as you guys would love to discuss YEC, Last Thursdayism, and I having things backwards -- could we stick to embedded age here, please?

You are mistaken, read up on the subject.

Embedded age is, as we have shown, a nonsensical concept.

Heh, more qualified=agrees with you?
No.

More qualified = answering the questions the way they were written.

There is nothing in the OP that asks for 'agreement with me'.

Ok, AV... If your other 154,327 "challenges" couldn't trick anyone in to accidentally admitting your embedded age nonsense, what makes you think making another "challenge" would work?

Einstein said that insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

If a rock came into existence ex nihilo and radiodated as 10,000 years old:

1. Explain why that would not be an example of embedded age.

I can't. That would be a perfect example of embedded age.

2. How old would the rock be:

  • physically
  • existentially

The rock's age would equal the amount of time it has been in existence, period. That is the definition of "age."

Now, my question is, how would one know the true age of the rock?

You, sir, are a breath of fresh air.

Its physical age would be different from its existential age though.

That's actually a good question, but for another thread -- ;)

Nah. I just decided not to skirt the question and to take your premise as-is, just to see where it goes.

Its physical age would be different from its existential age though.

I suppose so. But, if I were just walking along, picked up a rock and dated it using radiometric dating, how would I know it was anything other than 10,000 years old?

That's actually a good question, but for another thread -- ;)

Aww, c'mon. I obliged you. Now, you indulge me.

You, sir, are a breath of fresh air.

Hooray -- someone finally validated your vanity.

Its physical age would be different from its existential age though.

... but not enough, it would seem.

That's actually a good question, but for another thread -- ;)

A pity you don't have the courage to start it.

Hooray -- someone finally validated your vanity.

That is completely incidental. Out of curiousity, I'd just like to see where the discussion goes if someone answered the question as straightforwardly as it was presented. Besides, what do you care if I stroke AV's ego a little bit? :p

Hmph. You beat me too it, NP.
What do you mean?

You introduced a third premise: true age.

If by that, you mean it is actually 10,001 years old, or 9,999.999 years old; then it doesn't matter, does it?

I could have used any number in my OP, from 1 [year] to infinity, and the point would still be the same, wouldn't it?
