I have studied widely,but although I have working knowledge of the bible,
I probably have less knowledge than I should have,and I was thrown by what I would say was
a totally heretical interpretation of satan etc .
There are obviously subtle differences in individual interpretation,but this
is totally of the beam.
For me satan was an angel who was given powers of 'intellectual' knowledge which
led him to believe that he could 'take over' God's
power. This incomplete knowledge is that of of the left hand brain
which can only analyse,what is already created,mainly the material
world ,and all atheists suffer from this lack of access to God and
Creation which can only be accessed through letting go of the
control materialists need ,and following the 'path' which Christ has
set out for us.I think Paul did a lot of damage by being to legalist
left handbrained.
When satan [lucifer]poisoned the minds of those willing to follow him
[ r.dawkins is the perfect example of a lucifer figure] because the
materialistic route can be the easiest to take up as it is shorter
and instantly satisfyinghe brought about a crisis in creation,which is mirrored at
this time in history.
God has always maintained total control over all of His Creation but
He allows us to either save ourselves or to destroy ourselves,and during
critical periods [like now] we are faced with a choice,to give in to
belief without knowing everything or perish.[re. Thomas]

We are to have the Mind of Christ, so we will have the thoughts of God. Not just one of us but all of us. So we will all be of one mind, one accord, thinking the thoughts of God. Jesus died so we can be reconciled with the father, but also so we can be reconciled with each other. IF the resurrection power of God is working in us to prepare us for the rapture. Then that is the work He is doing, to put off the old, put on the new. We become a born again new creation in Christ. I do not know if they taught you all that stuff, but some of the dead churches do not teach what it means to be born again and to be a new Creation in Christ.

The reason is because the person who does not believe in hell does not see any reason to be saved,Jesus died to give humanity a chance to miss an eternity of suffering,if you do not believe that the suffering of hell awaits you then of course you see not reason to be saved(saved from what you ask). A blind man in the water surrounded by sharks may mock the out-stretched hand meant to save him because in his present condition he only feels the coolness and relaxation of being in the water. Of course his pleasant condition is very limited by time,however in the short time he has he can still mock and laugh at the person offering to save him. This life is really very short,if hell is real(and I believe that it is)then even as we speak thousands of mockers are finding to their everlasting terror that the hell they mocked was real.

And if the person reaching out the hand was at the same time blaring out rock music, which stopped the blind man from hearing the splashing of the sharks, while at the same time demanding the blind man stab himself in the armpit with a rusty fork before being pulled out, they'd be a pretty lousy rescuer!

Then how does one account for the numerous different denominations and brands of Christian belief? Is it this hard to really know the mind of god? Or is god incompetent and unable to effectively reveal his mind?

If it wasn't for science the kid could easily have died of typhoid, cholera, polio, or smallpox before he even had appendicitis to contend with. Most rational people would have blamed the doctor, and not tried to apply guilt by association not just to the entire of medical science, but computer programming, solid state electronics, and astronomy as well.
