In Rev 11:8 Jerusalem is called Sodom because it is where, when Jesus died and arose from the dead He completely wiped out sin as He did in Sodom when He completely destroyed it by fire and brimstone. Analysis of the ashen remains of Sodom, which was rediscovered by Wyatt Archeological Research, has shown that this comparison is accurate since they could not reignite the ashen remains that they recovered from the site of Gomorrah.
Jerusalem is mystically called Egypt because when Jesus died and arose from the dead in Jerusalem He released us from the captivity of death as He by His power alone released Israel, which symbolizes Christians, from captivity in Egypt.
Rev. 11:8 And their dead bodies will lie in the street of the great city which mystically is called Sodom and Egypt, where also their Lord was crucified.

I must disagree. Jerusalem is not "the great city." Jerusalem wasn't mentioned...it is us mistakenly assuming Jerusalem is the place. Jesus was crucified just outside the gates of Jerusalem...not in Jerusalem. In other words, He was crucified in the world for the world is the great city Babylon.

Sodom/wickedness and Egypt/carnal, worldly lusts are where the dead bodies lie.

You obviously took this too far. The scriptures state that Jesus was crucified in Jerusalem and I believe you already knew that and would have no problem saying so under different circumstances.

Luke 13:33 “Nevertheless I must journey on today and tomorrow and the next day; for it cannot be that a prophet would perish outside of Jerusalem. 34 “ O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, just as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you would not have it!

Matt. 20:17 [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] As Jesus was about to go up to Jerusalem, He took the twelve disciples aside by themselves, and on the way He said to them, 18 “Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem; and the Son of Man will be delivered to the chief priests and scribes, and they will condemn Him to death,

The comparison between Egypt, Sodom and the great city where our Lord was crucified is mystical, which your explanation is not. The mystical comparison is as was revealed to me by the Holy Spirit that Jerusalem is called Egypt because it is where when Jesus was crucified we were released from our captivity of condemnation just as Israel, which is a title given to Christians, was released from captivity in Egypt. Jerusalem is mystically called Sodom because it is where when Jesus was crucified he wiped out sin just as he did when destroyed Sodom.

First, I want to thank you for using paragraphs in this response. Some of your posts are very difficult to read for my old eyes.

Secondly, I must disagree on the above. What is revealed to us by the Spirit must find foundation within His Word or...it is in error and we need to keep searching.

Jerusalem is not mystically called Sodom. Rather, what is written is...

Revelation 11:8 And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.
It is the great city being spiritually called Sodom and Egypt....not Jerusalem. Why is the great city "spiritually" given those names? Because it isn't a literal city and needs to be seen spiritually. She represents all of what Sodom and Egypt represent, wickedness and carnality. That great city is.....

Revelation 14:8 And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.

16:19 And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell: and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath.

18:10 Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.

18:21 And a mighty angel took up a stone like agreat millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all.

Our Lord was crucified in that great city Babylon, not Jerusalem, for she is the world ruled by the prince of darkness. He was crucified by, for and in her....

1 John 2:2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

I would have to agree with whirlwind on this one. We in this present world are (outside) the heavenly camp. Just as Paul showed in Hebrews 13:11-13 that we like Jesus must suffer (outside the camp,) bearing his reproach. We are told in verse 14 that here on this earth we have no more continuing city, but we seek one to come.

If you look to the law of sacrifice you will see the outer part of the flesh of the animal was sacrificed outside the camp. In the same manner we must put off that fleshy man outside the heavenly camp. This proof of being outside the gates of Jerusalem was shown in Revelation 11:2 where we see the court ( without) the Temple, and the holy city was not to be measured because it was given into the hands of the Gentiles to tread under foot.

This earthly Jerusalem was shown in Galations 4:25 which is still in bondage with her people. But the heavenly Jerusalem is shown in verse 26 which is above, and is free, and is the mother of us all who are born of the Spirit.

In keeping with that.....

Hebrews 13:12 Wherefore Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people with His own blood, suffered without the gate.

This is what I believe. The "Great City" where the bodies of the 2 witnesses lay refers to Jerusalem. However, I do not believe it is the physical Jerusalem. I believe it is the idolatrous religion of the pharisees and the scribes which is now spread all over the world. The religion of self righteousness. Thinking that they can be justified by keeping the law of Moses and judging others who do not. Religion without faith.

Jerusalem is called Sodom because of wickedness and immorality which comes when people are self righteous and are under the bondage of the law. See Romans 1.17-32 and Romans 7.5 & 14-25. It is called Egypt because people under the Mosaic law are bound from righteousness. They must work hard and yet that does not earn them righteousness.

The Law of Moses makes people to know they are sinners in need of a savior but hypocrites think by observing a few rules in it they are righteous and that is how they form the "Great City" Jerusalem.

Thanks JamesDAlbright for the Worderful scriptures.

Acts 21.12-13
When we heard this, we and the people there pleaded with Paul not to go up to Jerusalem. Then Paul answered, “Why are you weeping and breaking my heart? I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.”

The Lord (Word of God) would be handed over to the Nations of the world, and be crucified just like the body of Jesus.

Galatians 6:14
But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.

The "great city" in that verse is a reference to modern-day AMERICA; or BABYLON THE GREAT. Notice that BABYLON THE GREAT is called "that great city" in Rev.17:18.

Modern-day America is the nation that is spiritually called Sodom and Egypt. And it's also the nation that has spiritually crucified Christ.

It's ALL about America. It's the nation which Daniel spoke about. And it's certainly the nation which John spoke about in Revelation.

Based on all the things foretold about America in those two books, its clear that God chose to use events that have transpired in America, to serse as the signs and timeline for the 2nd coming of Christ.

Those signs have all been fulfilled.

The apostasy or "falling away" of the white Americans has already occured. (11Thess.2)

In 1963 the daily school prayer (daily sacrifice) was taken away by the white Americans, as well as the Anti-mesegenation law 3 and a half years later in 1967. (Dan.12:11)

African Americans have already exalted themselves above the White Americans. (11Thess.2)

That interracial marriage which is called "abomination of desolation" and "mystery of iniquity" is in full swing today in America and in the churches.
(11Thess.2, Daniel, Matt.24:15)

African Americans have already taken away the dominion of the white Americans. And the scripture says they will consume and destroy their dominion until the end. (Dan.7:26)

The nation America has seemingly make a god of African Americans, and is serving them more than Christ. (Dan.11:38,39)

The 11th chapter of Daniel, verses 40-45 indicates just how close we are to the end, for they describe the nation-building in the Arab world that America is presently involved in. Notice verse 45, which in my estimation is just around the corner.

"And he (the white Americans) shall plant the tabernackles of his own palace between the seas in the glorious christian continent, yet he shall come to his end and none shall help him."[/quote]

That was accomplished during the end of the 6th millennium. Now with the year 2000AD and onwards we are in the verse Dan.12;1. We are in the 40 years of temptation which preceeds the entering into the Christian promised land which is the Rev.20;6 Millennium. Heb.4;4-7 Matt.10;28 Matt.6;10

Yep, the tabernacle was planted and today has lost it's power so we'll se who will actually help it when if all hell breaks loose.
