  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Do you agree that christians should keep the 10 Commandments? (2)

It is yes and with the indwelling of the Holy Spirit we can. If we can not then we can not truely love either. Love demands action and if we can not act it out then we fail.
So name anyone who has done so save Jesus. This isn't the first time this challenge has been made by me. History bears witness that even with the aide of the Holy Spirit there are no such people or person in existence and have been none as well. So has God failed? I don't think so. I think the statement quoted above is fallacious in every sense of the word fallacious.

It says that someone is bound to the law as long as they live. Therefor the law exists and is not thrown away.

1 Corinthians 7:39 The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord.
Which law? For when God created male and female they become one flesh. This is why marriage is a life time commitment. There are many laws. Just like the law of gravity. You jump off a high tower you will hit the ground.

The law of love is fulfilled by the law so i must follow the law to follow love. But i do have Grace which is more than a word. Grace saves us from the law but Love fulfills the law and we are commanded to obey the law of love, therefor we are commanded to obey the commandments.
The law of love is fullfilled by the Law? I have asked repeatedly where the law states how to treat your neighbor. Other than not doing things to harm them what does the law teach you how to love in a positive manner such as picking them up when they fall. Where does the law provide the do? and not just the Don'ts.

So why did God give both? It is God that did this not man. Does God not know what He is doing/ Is he a fool? Where did God say that love replaces the ten commandments? Because we accept it does that make it accepted to God?
God wrote the ten commandments with His own hand, then He said to love God with all your heart Deut 6:
4Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:
5And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
6And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:
And Lev. 19:
4Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:
5And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
6And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:
This has been repeatedly stated. God gave the law to the Isrealites. We are not the Isrealites and we are not under their covenant. We are under the new covenenant where we are not governed by a law written in stone but the Love of God shed abroad in our hearts. This is why one must be born again. Born of the Fathers Spirit and Him indwelling His people and His people being His temple with Love as their law.

Please explain how Paul teaches us to keep the law. He says we're delivered from it. He says to throw it out. He doesn't advocate circumcision. He doesn't advocate keeping the sabbath. He doesn't advocate kosher or only eating clean meats. He jumps all over Peter for being a hypocrite in the matter for living like a gentile. That would certianly deviate from the law. I don't think that Paul was out to destroy Peter. He didn't condemn Peter for living like a gentile.

Its right there in black and white. Paul is advocating the law. Paul teaches that woman and man are bound to the law as long as they live. Even though Paul says we are free from the law, notice how he also teaches us to obey the law concerning adultery? Are we free from the law of adultery, can we throw the adultery law away as you suggest above?

Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman.
1Co 7:2 Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.

1Co 7:38 So then he that giveth her in marriage doeth well; but he that giveth her not in marriage doeth better.
1Co 7:39 The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord.

Jesus voided the death penalty by stoning. Jesus voided the law Concerning eating certain foods. I can see why we shouldn't obey Jewish law because we're gentiles and Christians, But Jesus did appear to teach the 10 Cs. Some can argue that the sabbath is for Jews only, but how can we argue against 9 of the 10 Cs when Jesus taught them and Paul clearly taught 9 of them?

Is the 9th commandment vaild? I didn't read in your quote of me anything remotely related to adutlery. Do the rules of CF allow false accusation? I certianly don't understand the following in relation to the quote either.

I wasn't accusing you, i was commenting on the "throwing the law out" comment you made when you suggested Paul tells us to throw out the law. If Paul says that a woman is bound to the law concerning marriage, what law is he referring to? Was Paul saying that the woman is bound to her Husband but she may commit adultery against him? It seems that Paul shows obligation to some law. if marriage is being taught according to the law, wouldn't adultery law also be an obligation for the woman in 1 Co 7:39?

1Co 7:38 So then he that giveth her in marriage doeth well; but he that giveth her not in marriage doeth better.
1Co 7:39 The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord.

Paul and Moses appear to disagree significantly about what is and is not acceptable behaviour... and yet Paul relies on the written words of Moses to buttress his argument at every opportunity. How is that?

Maybe the difficulty lies in the assertion that Paul is speaking in almost all his letters to gentiles within the congregation. They are under no compulsion at all in regards these things, Jews on the other hand are more than compelled.

Sometimes when Paul says we are free from the law He is talking to Jews and gentiles that have been persuaded by Jews to obey the whole letter of the law which included circumcision. Maybe this gets confused with Paul also teaching about Grace which is freedom from the laws condemnation.

First who is Isaiah speaking to?

Second do you require work of anybody on the sabbath besides the minister at your church? If so you break and violate the sabbath. Do you do business on the sabbath?

  1. All His people.
  2. NO. NO. Even turn off my cell phone.

actually work was specified in 39 melakhot. This was decided on by Rabbis to reflect the "work" that was talked about that God rested from no the first Sabbath as it was not ever actually biblically defined. They chose work that involved "creating". So really you cannot "create" on the Sabbath.

'Verily ye shall keep My sabbaths, for it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations, that ye may know that I am the LORD who sanctify you. Ye shall keep the sabbath therefore, for it is holy unto you; every one that profaneth it shall surely be put to death; for whosoever doeth any work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people."

so, "work" is not defined biblically initially and I'd venture to say, Christ clarified that himself later on.

I guess that you're insisiting that the old man is raised from the dead with Christ. Romans 6 and 7 discuss the issue. The new man isn't bound by the law of the old that the old man (the flesh) was bound to. Remember Jesus said you must be born again - John 3. So this idea didn't originate with Paul.
Not at all but the opposite. The new man as stated in Rom 6 live not in sin but in righteousness. Therefore he break not the law but keeps it.
