CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Saying it has been demonstrated doesn't mean it actually has been. How has those things been proven and demonstrated? How has it been proven that jesus actually did heal people?
And how do you know they never believed the earth was flat? I find it very strange that you honestly claim that your ancestors never claimed such. What made them think the earth was round, and how do you know this?

When dad uses the word "data," he doesn't actually mean data. Dad thinks of "data" as "stuff" he knows is true because he knows it's true. Dad has stated time and again that actual data is irrelevant to his awesome divinely-inspired TRUTH.

Prease be more exact, this isnt really so. DATA does not change, it is what it is.
We get more data,but the old doesnt transform into something else.
Sometimes, it will happen that theory will modify to accommodate the new data.
But data does not change, and its just false to say it does. dont agree with the enemy camp on that.

Well, but I'd argue that old data can change when we get more precise instruments, for instance. Take the approximations of pi. It's changed, as far as getting more precise, is all.

I think updated, is a better word for it then changes. Even though updating some data is changing it as well, so you are not incorrect.
But data gets updated because of new observations

Either way. The evidence supporting the theory of evolution is overwhelming. You'd have to have an agenda to reject it. It would be like trying to refute gravity

Data never changes. You may add more data, even more accurate data, but the old data is still data. So, in reply to AVET's little quip....data does not change, though the data in new published articles is certainly new data. Theories may change, on the other hand. As I (and others) have pointed out ad nauseum here, science is self-correctly, while religious dogma (eg creationism) is not. Which should we trust, AVET?
