  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Indeedy I did, otherwise there would be little sense in me responding at all. I take it there's something you wish to say.
Um ... no ... no comment at this time.

The Bible is no ordinary book, is it?

? Right because it was written by desert nomads with no formal education and therefore needs to be "Interpreted" because no one really knows what it means or if taken literally must be done so in "pick and chose" format according to the society you reside in... Which is why I understand Buddhist's(requires almost no faith for a God or any other person) and are baffled by Christians. They just run themselves in circles trying to explain why the bible is truth.

Of course its not an ordinary book.

Speaking of no formal education, can you name one or two or maybe five or ten of these desert nomads?

What exactly was Shem supposed to have seen that showed him the earth was round?
I can name 360 things he saw that showed him -- would you like to know what they were?

I can even sum them up in one word.
Go for it. But please specify what Shem is supposed to have seen that showed him the earth was round.

It's the most popular and bestselling book in human history.

(bear in mind, though, Quotations of Chairman Mao is in second place).

But insofar as it is not magically able to translate itself, it is, I am sorry to tell you, quite ordinary.

Now, if it were the Necronomicon...

Can you name the four people who wrote the gospels?

Speaking of desert nomads, I particularly like the one where Moses records his own death. That's pretty slick.

Matthew/Levi, John Mark, Dr. Luke and John Boanerges

Slicker yet is Joshua writing the last chapter of Deuteronomy as an afterward to a great man.

Neat, eh? Fools even the scholarly.

How do you know they wrote the gospels? They didn't sign them.

Let's just say I have a strong hunch they did.

How do you know Darwin wrote The Preservation of Favoured Races?

That is the point! It doesn't really matter who wrote it. "The Origin" stands on its own. If Homer had written it, or Aristotle, it would still stand the test against reality.

Your book, however, depends very much on who wrote it. If Joshua ben Podunk wrote it in his spare time as a joke, the whole thing is invalidated.
