A survey of 21,000 fundamentalist Darwinist atheists shows that if scientists say the Earth is flat and the Sun revolves around the Earth, they trust them without question...

"The history of science demonstrates, however, that the scientific truths of yesterday are often viewed as misconceptions, and, conversely, that ideas rejected in the past may now be considered true. History is littered with the discarded beliefs of yesteryear, and the present is populated by epistemic corrections. This realization leads us to the central problem of the history and philosophy of science: How are we to evaluate contemporary sciences's claims to truth given the perishability of past scientific knowledge? ... If the truths of today are the falsehoods of tomorrow, what does this say about the nature of scientific truth?" -- Naomi Oreskes, historian, 1999

Do I look to scientists for answers to most of the important questions today? No. But of the groups given they would fall second only to Family. (Everyone in my family over 25 has a college degree. Many in or related to the sciences).

Why do I trust scientists more than others? Because scientists are less apt to speak publically in areas outside thier area of expertise. Come to thnik about it family has a tendency to be clear about when they feel they are well or poorly informed.

Many of the other groups have far too many who are quite happy to speak when they know almost nothing.

Factual questions are not the same as questions on one's feelings or opinions.

Then I guess he won't mind me ignoring that quote.

Fact remains that a statistically viable survey could easily indicate which of the list of options is most trusted. That has nothing to do with whether those options should be trusted in practice, of course.

Ignorance is bliss eh?

Fact remains that a statistically viable survey could easily indicate which of the list of options is most trusted.
Who do you trust more: Scylla or Charibdis?

A survey of 20,000 trusts Scylla more.

That has nothing to do with whether those options should be trusted in practice, of course.
Trust no one. They are almost all insane.

AoS, what are your opinions on David Icke?
I have only one opinion about him so far and it is this: I think there is far more scientific evidence for extraterrestrial reptiles than there is for biological evolution.

There must be a lot of rhetoric you left out here.

I am not referring to a comic book illustration.

"Very clearly the author Megasthenes, the contemporary of Seleucus Nicanor, writes as follows in the third of his books, On Indian Affairs: 'All that was said about nature by the ancients is said also by those who philosophise beyond Greece: some things by the Brahmins among the Indians, and others by those called Jews in Syria.'" -- Clement of Alexandria, theologian, Stromata, Book I, Chapter XXV, 2nd century

Megasthenes is of course referring to the Vishnu Purana and the polymath Musaeus's well known epic poem called the Torah.

"PARÁŚARA.--The extent of the surface of the earth has been thus described to you, Maitreya. Its depth below the surface is said to be seventy thousand Yojanas, each of the seven regions of Pátála extending downwards ten thousand. These seven, worthy Muni, are called Atala [Antarctica], Vitala, Nitala, Gabhastimat, Mahátala, Sutala, and Pátála. Their soil is severally white, black, purple, yellow, sandy, stony, and of gold. They are embellished with magnificent palaces, in which dwell numerous Dánavas, Daityas, Yakshas, and great snake-gods. The Muni Nárada, after his return from those regions to the skies, declared amongst the celestials that Pátála was much more delightful than Indra's heaven. "What," exclaimed the sage, "can be compared to Pátála, where the Nágas are decorated with brilliant and beautiful and pleasure-shedding jewels? who will not delight in Pátála, where the lovely daughters of the Daityas and Dánavas wander about, fascinating even the most austere; where the rays of the sun diffuse light, and not heat, by day; and where the moon shines by night for illumination, not for cold; where the sons of Danu, happy in the enjoyment of delicious viands and strong wines, know not how time passes? There are beautiful groves and streams and lakes where the lotus blows; and the skies are resonant with the Koïl's song. Splendid ornaments, fragrant perfumes, rich unguents, the blended music of the lute and pipe and tabor; these and many other enjoyments are the common portion of the Dánavas, Daityas, and snake-gods, who inhabit the regions of Pátála [Antarctica]." -- Vishnu Purana, Book II, Chapter V

"Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil." -- Genesis 3:1-5

Oh come on, it's not like you would actually read the article if the full thing was presented.
