Thoughts?

I think they are very dangerous people, especially Rush Limbaugh. I'm worried that what they say could make some people turn against the government, or actually threaten the government if they are already anti-government.
I also think what they do is kind of distasteful, especially Rush Limbaugh's parody "Barack The Magic Negro". The reason I really have a problem with this is that President Obama is half-white and half-black. It's okay to criticize a President when they have done something wrong. However, this parody seems more like bashing than criticism.

The only people that Limbaugh and Beck, et al, are dangerous to are leftist politicians who know their agenda is threatened and their time is short.

Keep praying that November will be the most sweeping house-cleaning in American history (NO Democrat incumbents and NO RINO incumbents re-elected at ALL), and that the new electees are are solid conservatives, fiscally and ethically responsible, place the United States of America FIRST, and are determined and committed to nullifying Obama, past, present, and future.

We get that, and there will be no need for anybody to turn against the government.

Yes, all free speech is dangerous and has to be stopped!

And by the way, the "Barack the Magic Negro" bit was a quote from an LA Times article (and I think they were quoting Al Sharpton), Limbaugh didn't coin the phrase.

People are going to say things you don't like. Get over it. You wouldn't even have a country to say these things in if someone like Rush Limbaugh hadn't said something to turn people against the government back when we broke from England.

What I'm anti-Gov't.......welfare is insulting and they have out weighed their welcome by over reaching onto my loaned liberty's, also they live as unprincipled, corrupt, lawless men. As above the law elites as" Above reproach". As they are shredding up our Constitutional rights!

Are they dangerous? Probably not. I don't foresee Glenn Beck's "movement" becoming much more than an interesting historical footnote.

Are they stupid? Well........

so if you don't get what you want, you will be justified in turning against the government and the will of your fellow americans?

this is why these guys are dangerous. this post clearly expresses the danger they represent. simple people like simple solutions and clear enemies to direct their ire upon. beck, rush, hannity et.al. provide these for people who can't parse the nuances of issues and just want the meat, someone to hate and blame.

do they have a right to paint the world in silly black and white terms? of course, but they are also the poster children for why our rights are not always a panacea toward peaceful living. our rights protect those that can hurt and manipulate us just as they protect those that would seek to elevate us. rights can be abused, while still requiring us to tolerate that abuse. these guys have it down to a science and are seriously undermining the american discourse. rather than form cogent arguments, they forge demons in the image of their political adversaries, making fools of the childlike sychophantic followers.

Beck and Limbaugh and their "followers" are about as dangerous and stupid as Maddow and Olbermann and their followers.
Maddow and Olbermann are dumb and essentially useless, but I don't see them inciting hatred towards groups of people; I don't see them as doing much to dissipate it either which is why I see them as useless.

Maddow and Olbermann don't incite their viewers to fake grassroots campaigns, talking about "taking America back".
Ringo

What viewers? They don't have enough to fake a grass roots slumber party. I do seem to remember a certain Democrat by the name of Dean that expressed the desire to take his country back from those evil conservatives.

I hope we do have another four years of President Obama. I am a liberal and I am for the legalization of marijuana, womens' rights and the ordination of women in all churches, and basically everything the left is for. The only political issue I am more moderate on is gay rights.

i would hope, as a liberal, we have absolutely no input regarding clergy in individual churches and that the rights of gay americans are upheld absolutely. don't ask don't tell must be abolished and gay marriage or civil unions established.

No. This is simply how some try and dismiss those they do not want to actually have to either debate or discuss.

And you say this in a sentence where you incorrectly spell both American and sycophantic.

Limbaugh and Beck do not undermine the American discourse, they help to shape it in a manner which you apparently do not like. They provide information and a manner in which to view it which is in stark contrast to most within the media. Their message is not the Joy Behar message, which is love, honor, and obey your president. Their message is not the Rachael Maddow and Keith Olberman message, which is Republicans are evil and do not question us on this. This, I believe, is why you hate them so.

You don’t see Limbaugh and Beck doing this either. What you see is people like Maddow and Olberman telling you to see this.

Not true. According to wikipedia:

The show continued its lead during the second quarter of 2010, staying well ahead of CNN's Larry King Live for the third consecutive quarter, and topping the show in both primetime and overall ratings.

The Rachel Maddow Show (TV series) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

For Keith Olbermann's part, his show takes third place in cable news ratings:

at least these two have the integrity not to be pitch men for ridiculous products, which all the conservative talking heads live for. the big four (rush, hannity, beck and savage) are nothing more than unashamed advertising hucksters, salivating to ring the last buck out of their minions.

Right! They lead the way in innuendo about the President being a Muslim and other conspiracy theorizing!
