  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Nope, I'm serious. How do you know these things? What convinced you that it is true? What method did you use to test your hypothesis? How do you know what you know? Seems like a reasonable question to me. I would like to know how you gained knowledge on this subject. You seem very confident about it so I would like to know.

Quite simply, not all answers are found in the lab.

Your kidding , right? I often say that if people would focus more on the differences between us and apes rather than the similarities you might realize our uniqueness over them. And it is that difference that uniqueness that alows us to have a personal relationship with our Creator.
Why would he be kidding? You made a positive claim. He simply asked at how you arrived at this conclusion. Perfectly reasonable to ask for an explanation.

You're kind of right. It's true, our bigger brains does make homo sapiens unique over other primates. I believe it is our bigger brains that allows us to come up with a concept of god or a creator.
Yes, this is correct. It is a faulty wiring when it comes to agency and intentionality that caused early humans to create "god" and all kinds of supernatural concepts. Daniel Dennett and Bruce Hood cover the subject very nicely in several books. I highly recommend "Breaking the Spell" and "Supersense".

That doesn't answer my questions. You told me how you didn't gained knowledge. I would like to know how you did gain so much knowledge about the religion of apes and whether or not they end up in heaven. Please stop evading the subject.

Are you sure you Homo sapiens aren't a product of one of their experiments?

What proof do you have of this?

He has none, because he doesn't actually support it. It seems like he's simply wildly guessing in an attempt to make the Theory of Evolution seem as ridiculous as what he's proposing.

And failing.

Faith could be a bad thing depending on where you put it.

What I wonder about is why you're so eager to apply religiously derived words onto things you consider evil and unreasonable. When you see something that you consider unreasonable, and the first thing that pops into your mind is "faith", shouldn't that make you think a little?

If you truly consider the faith you have to be virtuous, sacred and beautiful why would you sully the word by applying it to things that you consider abhorrent?

Faith in God leads to life abundantly, and with that comes peace, joy meaning, and purpose in life. Those things that make life worth living.

Glad that works for you. But you're projecting your own thoughts and wishes onto others when you assert that everyone requires exactly the same beliefs to be able to feel fulfilled and happy.

Can you get more honest than Jesus?

I was pointing out that he was being dishonest when he asserted that evolution means that something came from nothing. If evolution is so obviously irrational, why the need to distort and lie about it? Surely honest objections would be superior.

For he is the WAY, the TRUTH and the LIFE. Your choice, to accept this or not. Monkeys dont have that choice.

Beliefs are determined by upbringing, by friends and relatives, by experiences, it's not a choice. Can you choose to believe in evolution all of a sudden? No, of course not. It requires experiences, for instance by being exposed to convincing evidence.

Peter :)

@Hawk007

It would be my hypothesis that humans have a multi-dimensional normally-distributed (gaussian) probability density function (pdf).

That is, we don't expect everyone to be the same but somewhat clustered around the mean.

Those out at the tails are either saints (of a sort) or psychopaths. They are also necessarily (by definition) rare.

From which living being did we evolve from so that we can know our ancient family........is it possible to say that, because there is an evolution principle saying that all living things have a common ancestor, that we were all just some kind of soup, with no brain, no emotions, no procreation by sex, no enemy, no ambition, no love, no society, no way to understand that it should become flora which are so amazing cause it produces the air we need to survive and the source of food for most animals, etc.......?

I cannot understand how anyone can believe that nature evolved out of some brainless soup in very very complex living systems! It is therefore that I admire the faith of an atheist!

Abiogenesis/macro evolution is a theory and it will stay a theory forever, but what it does is to let people think they are animals and blinds them to the inheritances they are suppose to receive from God!

The question is, which theory do I want to chose, are my ancestors evolved originally from soup or have we always been humans created in God's image?

I chose the latter theory!

I do believe there's hope for them, Hawk.

In questioning them about going feral, I notice that, even though they like to claim they are animals, they don't like to be treated like animals.

That to me shows a ray of hope.

Don't know if you read much, but should should check out "Molecules of Emotion" by Candace Peart, Ph.D. She does a great job of explaining why we feel the way we do.

"Molecules of Emotion" Is it not so that the author explains how the material world of molecules are linked with the non-material world of the psyche.......

How would you suggest did the non-material world evolved my friend?
You might want to read the Bible, it is has been a best seller way more than "Molecules of Emotion" could ever be, I wonder if someone will remember that book after 2000 years! ;)

Be blessed!

Yea, with the Holy Spirit there will always be hope! All we can do is sow!

All the best! :amen:

If I as a computer programmer wrote an application for the purpose of word processing but I made two versions. One version had a spell check and the other one did not. Would this mean that because the programming was mostly alike that the version with the spell check evolved from the basic version? Or is it that they look alike because they were programmed by the same being?

What do you mean by non-material world, exactly? And why do you suppose I haven't read the bible?

And thanks, I am blessed beyond measure.

  1. The response has nothing to do with my post nor even the post to which I was responding.
  2. The response shows a lack of understanding of the word theory (twice).
  3. The post shows a lack of understanding of the distinction between faith and non-faith.

Fail.

We would observe that your word processing programs are not part of a self replicating population so would never suggest that they are evolving at all.

They would look alike because they were programmed by the same being.

Therefore, since MS-DOS and Windows are so different they should have been programmed by a different designer. But they weren't. They were both designed by Bill Gates. Logic fails.

You wouldn't make up some story --- like "Missing Links" --- to explain this phenomenon?
