  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Yes evolution is a fact, unless you have the misfortune of being home tutored in quite a few homes in the US, it then becomes the devils invention, the enemy of God and the Bible and the most evil tool of those God denying child eating racists called Atheists.

Well, it's a fact either way. Evolution is occurring whether you believe in it or not. We don't live in a consensual reality, where facts are determined by what the majority believes. You could deny gravity all the way down, but when you hit, it doesn't much matter what you believe.

Warping a childs mind should be made a felony in the US but it would seem even presidents have actively encouraged it, I think it's called 'the American way'.

It's a right to remain ignorant, as it should be.

Physically? It is hormonal interactions and neurons firing in your central nervous system.

Pretty much.

Where does it originate from?

Social bonds becoming stronger as humanity evolved. The stronger your attachment to someone was, the less likely you are to let a smilodon eat them, especially if they were carrying your young.

You are going to have to actually post in some sort of context.
If we're nothing more than glorified apes, motivated by chemical reactions, why is it considered "wrong" when someone goes feral?

Did our parents tame us?

Because we exist in large sociological constructs known as "Societies", and I imagine your definition of "feral" includes murder and other acts that negatively impact the society. Therefore, the dominant member of the people group assumes control, and enforces order on the society in order to keep relative strangers from killing each other. This artificially maintained and stabilized people group has a greater capacity for food production.

Did our parents tame us?

Yes, basically.

We are molecules of emotion my friend, molecules of emotion.

Really, is that your theory or do you have something else you base that statement on?

Are you suggesting you get emotional molecules and non emotional ones?

If your theory is correct and humans evolved to this point, then why are there humans who does not have love? (not lust)

Then the larger the group, the more potential for an animal going feral, correct?

And if an animal is just doing what it does naturally --- what's the problem?

@Hawk007

It would be my hypothesis that humans have a multi-dimensional normally-distributed (gaussian) probability density function (pdf).

That is, we don't expect everyone to be the same but somewhat clustered around the mean.

Those out at the tails are either saints (of a sort) or psychopaths. They are also necessarily (by definition) rare.

Doesn't follow. The shape of the pdf might change -- and hence the definition of "feral" would change.

It is natural for social animals to cooperate with society. Hence, going "feral" is not natural, per se.

You are suggesting the mother's love for her young, the caring part....granted. But lets have a look before animals evolved, it must have been some very weird organisms, they probably did not have certain sexes, so when after that did love evolve?

Why does animals not have humor, Appreciation of beauty, Self-consciousness, Awareness of death, Understanding time, Meaning of life, Malleability, Lack of harmony with nature(pollution, etc.), A sense of morality, build Character, Free moral agency, Capacity for wisdom, Desire for worship.......?

If we are the product of evolution there must be a type of living creature that must be close to us.....they too is living in societies, but have been living like their forefathers.......

Don't know if you read much, but should should check out "Molecules of Emotion" by Candace Peart, Ph.D. She does a great job of explaining why we feel the way we do.
