  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Did benny deny the unam sanctum?

You know what. I am getting a little tired of the RCs calling non-RCs ignorant.
I can see this as an outright "flame" against me personally and against the Orthodox Church.

I am not ignorant of the truth (the Catholic church claim). I know and have studied the Catholic church doctrines but simply find that I can not agree with enough of the doctrines to be a Catholic. So, if the unam sanctum still stands then how does the Catholic church view my chances of salvation outside of it?

It is not a flame, it either applies to you or it doesn't.

As a former Catholic, you might be in a much worse position!

Let's hope not.

Yes... Hello.

I would like to report a flame.

Yes. A flame.

post number? um... Well, it's old.

I do have the name of the post and the poster. It's Unam Sanctum.

What?

Yes, I know. But, it's still a flame.

What do you mean it's out of your jurisdiction?

Who's jurisdiction is it?

Oh?

I see.

What do you suggest?

What?

Oh...

O.K. Thanks, bye...

click.

Forgive me...

It is much worse to reject the Church out of pride or a disagreement on moral teaching than to reject it from ignorance.
Another subtle "flame" I see. I do not reject my Church or its teachings.

It was neither subtle nor a flame.
Then quit using the word "IGNORANCE" towards us in yours and from other RCs in your posts.

Save that for the "heathen" unbelievers in the world ;)

1 Corin 12:1 About yet the spiritual-things brethren! not I am willing ye to be being ignorant/agnoein <50> (5721).

Are you saying that because the remainder of the universal church rejects the Catholic church doctrines it will be much worse? Like how much worse? Is our salvation affected?

Lack of balance is often the direct consequence of over-emphasis on certain doctrinal issues while ignoring others that are related. Christians' conclusions are either ignorance or loyalty to a specific denomination, cause, teachings (doctrines) or person. We are all guilty of that at one point of our lives (maybe more). Its a man's heart that is corrupted. There are many who are judging based on bickering doctrines than God-centered fruitful lives.

If benny is a flippant reference to Pope Benedict XVI, the answer to the subject line is no.
Oh.. I didn't see this post. So is Bene XVI the one the OP is referring to?

Disobedience to Jesus could jeopardize salvation.

If one's faith is built on a sincere seeking of Christ, then this doesn't apply.

However, if someone rejects the Church because they want a divorce and to remarry, or, if they reject the Church from personal pride or for personal comfort, etc., then a person could be chronically rejecting the will of God.

An ongoing act of defiance could impact one's salvation.

Well at least you left out the "ignorance" part this time :D :p
