• CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Fullness of the faith??????????

Some, not all.
We should have all truth as we were promised.

Joh 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

That promise is for the church not individuals , if it was that promise is broken.

He will guide you into all truth.
Is that what we have.

Everybody agrees that God chooses specific people for specific purposes. That is not the same as saying that God pre-selects the saved and damned.

However, he does foreknow the saved and the damned. How this works out with history is a mystery. It might even look like he had predestined some to salvation and others to damnation.

Interestingly enough the idea of predestination brought me back to Christianity. As a Buddhist I realized I really could not escape existence and in fact had no control over my own fate (I realize traditional Calvinism allows for limited freewill but this is about the predestination part). So the only answer was to appeal to someone who could control fate(paradox) so I came back to Christianity. If I thought I could do anything about my fate I would have remained Buddhist. Also the birth of my daughter worked into my view of predestination but that is another story.

I always wonder that if I found out I was damned could I rejoice in the fact that my damnation was part of God's plan for the universe and as a faithful servant accept it as a gift from God to further his glory?

All truth here does not mean WE will understand everything...It means we will understand all the truth by which God revealed himself in Jesus the Christ to the apostles-writers of the NT, you know IOW that which is clear in scripture was revealed by the HS to them....You can see this also John 14:26.

Sorry, i misunderstood your words below:
That does not explain we are all not on the same page in every single way, since the Holy Spirit is to guide us into all truth.
All not some or most.

Thought you meant all people.
Yes, He will guide us into all truth. :clap:

That promise is for the church not individuals , if it was that promise is broken.
The church IS individuals, but yes, He does speak to the entire
church as well, through one individual or another

He will guide you into all truth.
Is that what we have
It's exactly what we have.
HIM guiding us into all truth

Someone can guide you, but that doesnt mean you follow them.
He's guiding us, individually, corporately and every which way but loose.
:thumbsup:

Yo Jack, is it true what I've heard about how all Bhuddists order Hot Dogs?
("Make me One With Everything")

ROTFL :p :thumbsup: Actually it would be more like make me a hot dog and I really don't care what you put on it,in fact it would be best if I do not like the hot dog or hate it......Which actually would be like loving God no matter if you end up in heaven or Hell.......

Great scripture now how does this scripture prove works saves a man?

This thread is about the FULLNESS of the faith - not the minimum requirments to be "saved". If you leave this out, then you don't have it all - you seem to like to leave this part out...

Farther directions as to the things Titus should and should not teach
1 Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work,
2 To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men.
3 For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.
4 But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,
5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
6 Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;
7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
8 This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.
9 But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.
10 A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject;
11 Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself.
12 When I shall send Artemas unto thee, or Tychicus, be diligent to come unto me to Nicopolis: for I have determined there to winter.
13 Bring Zenas the lawyer and Apollos on their journey diligently, that nothing be wanting unto them.
14 And let ours also learn to maintain good works for necessary uses, that they be not unfruitful.
15 All that are with me salute thee. Greet them that love us in the faith. Grace be with you all. Amen.

How do we leave this out? We as the body of Christ are called to be servants.. These are the works He speaks of.. We are chosen to be conformed to the Image of Christ. Christ came not to be served but to serve. We are being conformed to His image. This shows us that those who are led by the Spirit of God are indeed the Children of God.. We do not do works to be recoginzed by God.. We do servant works because we have been recognized by God and now are born of His Spirit.. You can't put the cart before the horse and expect to go forward for the horse will pull you backwards..

You leave out part of the faith when you reject some of the teachings of the apostles.

Why do you think the reformers rejected so much of the faith which they had been given?

The problem with what you have said is it cannot be proven that these traditions actually came from the Apostles.. So therefore we have no solid ground to stand on except the hearsay of men. Faith is not something we do.. Faith is a gift and is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things NOT seen..

I couldn't disagree more. It's not serial.
